The red light should come on for like 10 seconds then you should see a faint intermittent yellow light which means its charging... Do you see that?
No just the red, then it goes off...
It's booting up... did you press the power button on?
Does it come on with a swipe from top to bottom? The led doesn't work if it is all ready on.
Nope, it won't come on at all, I just get red, then no light. And I tried the power button etc.. He bought this unit the first week they came out (like I did) and it worked fine until now.
Ouch. 3 button reset? Or maybe it has to charge for a couple hours if the battery was real low. Otherwise maybe a loss of data and debrick could bring it back to life.
I tried charging it, but I don't think it is charging, because the red light comes on, then goes off, then I try to use it after an hour or so and it still won't go on...
I would plug it in and if you see the red light, leave it for 20 min or so and let it charge, look for the amber light. Then try turning it on. I believe you can also plug it into your computer if you have the blackberry software on it...
Do you have your charger with you? Try that, maybe something with the charger? Just guessing here.
Ya he paid full price (I think like 600) for this 64gb unit and so he isn't happy that its not working!
I've noticed that if I plug the Playbook in when it was off and then tried to turn it on with the power button, it wouldn't turn on. However, if I turned it on first, then plugged it in, I could finally use it while charging.
Perhaps charge it for a bit, unplug it, turn it on, then plug it back in to resume charging.
I tried the charger on my 9900 and it worked fine.
Hasn't been a year yet..............still under warranty.
I'm not entirely sure it is taking a charge because I don't get a charging light.. Anybody have the # to call RIM handy?
LOL, so its working now once you plugged it in?
No I mean the phone works fine with the charger, so its not a bad charger...
Post #9 F2 posts RIM numbers. A couple post before is de-brick instructions that may be in sticky at the top.

Thank you!
The charger could be defective too. Have you tried another one?
If you don't have another, it may be able to charge from USB on the computer. It would be very slow, but as long as it's off it will charge. A few hours should be sufficient for it to be usable, if that works.
Edit: sorry, had only seen the first page of posts when I wrote that. I'll let it stand anyway but I can see you already eliminated the charger as a possible cause.

I hv a question, has that PB bn plugged into a car charger that wasn't specifically for the PB? It does something to the charging system. Nevertheless, your probably gonna start seeing the red light followed by 3/5 green or yellow lights. RIM will hv to do an RMA repair which is surprising quick....Hope all works out :)
I have the exact same problem on a 64 gig PB. It was working just fine , its about a month old.
I restarted it and it never rebooted. It tried to but only blinks red light intermittently , even when not plugged into the charger , two blinks about every 15 seconds , same when its plugged in.
This can't be good. I am so bummed right now and plus I'm on my way to work. I'll leave it charging , read up some more and check the debricking link. Do you lose your apps you bought or collected when you debrick ?
Thanks in advance. Hope its just a glitch. By the way I had checked just before reboot and there was more than 60 percent battery left. Also after a while I tried the press the power button for 10 seconds reboot but that didnt work either.
I am also facing similiar problems with my Playbook. My playbook has bricked now about 3 times in 2 weeks (its not switching on again as i type this post). Usually this happens after a browser crash. Today it happen when I was tethered to my bb 9900 and streaming video (I had charged it today morning and had about 82% battery when the crash happened). Last week I had tried out the OS2 beta, and playbook seems to restart without any issues whenever the browser crashed or freeze.
I have tried the 3 button restart technique everytime my playbook didnt boot up (even tried today) but doesnt work. So, today for a change I have plugged it to power using the playbook charger. Hopefully it switches on else I will have to do the OS resinstall again tonight.
I really think its the OS 1.0.8 issue. Hopefully when the os 2 comes this issue may be fixed.
