I bought a PB for my sons birthday which is tomorrow.
I deleted all the apps that he will not use and put all the others into a folder on the second page.
I tried putting the Youtube app (the most important app) in the little dock at the top (bridge?)
    and it deleted!!!
How can I get it back?

you can see if checking for an OS update would fix it. If you delete a critical app that will re-download it.
Also, this has happened to others here you may have to wipe the device and reinstall the OS.

Copy the VIDEOS folder to your desktop computer and wipe. after this, all you have to do is just put in there the videos folder.
I guess you was talking about 50gb of videos choosing one by one. Do this, you'll copy all once.

I am usually browsing and end up on youtube from a link anyway so I access through the browser. The whole youtube site works really well through the browser.

Are there parental controls in the app that aren't available in the full site? - that's the only reason I could see you not wanting him to access the full site.

Check this thread for the solution if your problem was caused by removing all the icons from the dock:

If you want to get into sideloading you could sideload the android version Blackberry Playbook Android Apps | Good e-Reader Android APP Store - Playbook App Market

The crappy Android youtube app was the reason I bought the PB.
Whilst I must hold my hands up and blame myself, it is a bit ridiculous that I have to reinstall the whole OS to get an app back.

I will assume you checked all the folders and different screens. A selective backup of just app data and restore might bring the icon back.

ridiculous, I agree, but this is one of the built in apps which you 'arent' supposed to delete. it is strange, but no different a thing than if you delete a core android app, always a pig to put back and usually requires either root operations or a reflash of a rom.

do as outlined above and all will be good. hope your son enjoys it

You will have to install RIM's desktop manager application on a PC or Mac.

You mentioned "second page" in your first post. You're aware there can be multiple pages, windows, panes correct? The little squares show how many you have.

Yes, the three apps that I wanted my son to use (Music, videos and Youtube are on page one, all other apps were moved into a folder on the second page out of the way.

    (1) You said "Music, videos and Youtube are on page one". Did you mean were on page one?
    (2) Did you, as robsteve suggested, remove all the icons from the dock?
    (3) Before resorting to wiping your PB, you might try to finding the bar file for the native youtube app and sideloading it. There are zip files floating around that contain most of the native bar files. I think you might have to find the 2.0 zip file (I have the latest 2.1 OS and the beta 2.1.0.560 files- no luck with either)..

Yes, Rim should provide a repair option for the whole OS, sort of like in windows if you try an reinstall an application it will ask you if you want to repair it.
