So the wife and I watched Iron Man 3 streaming from the playbook, hooked up to our HDMI. The audio and video quality on the TV was amazing. I was so impressed. The only issue we had was we lost wifi for a few minutes half way through.

She was impressed too, but too proud of her ipad to say so

Get a BB Music Gateway and plug that into your audio system, get Neutron Player, rip all of your cd music to the PB and thats just another facet to the A/V abilities, movies/music all going into your TV Audio system, all controlled remotely with a BB 9850 torch/Z30 using Bridge!

    Go for it....

In the summertime, I frequently hook my PB up to the BB Music Gateway (which is hooked up to my audio system in the house) and sit on the back deck controlling the tunes from my PB. I just recently started watching movies through HDMI and it's awesome.

it should self fit, but you have to verify how the Mpeg is formatted when ripped/converted.

Ok, whenever I hook up the Q, I get a small box, maybe half of the size of the TV screen. But the PB fits perfectly fine.

Could just be the HDMI settings itself. You need the remember that the PB is widescreen whereas the Q is a square, thus the cut off edges when plugged in. I get the same issue when I play Portrait-Mode games via HDMI on my Z10 - sides are blacked out.

I bought my playbooks specifically for media use. I really needed them to implement the dlna renderer but that hope is lost. Being able to use it wirelessly with the Chromecast would have made me happy but that was not to be so now my Wallymurt droid tablet has taken over for all media streaming on the home theater.

Still use the playbook for audio via Bose Soundlink II. Even over bluetooth the playbook blows away all other tablets in audio quality. The Wallymurt tablet sounds like two monkeys playing the spoons in an empty shipping container, via bluetooth.

Just a quick note, if you need a DLNA client for PlayBook, I downloaded KalemSoft media player yesterday for my son (snow day!) and it works perfectly.

Start the movie hit the 3 dots to the bottom right, then hit PlayOn when it comes up.
After clicking PlayON a HDMI box will show, press that and your movie will go full screen.

You need to use the PlayOn option, which I think is only available in the Video Player, not when viewing Flash videos or videos via the browser.

    Got it!
I test out on my wife's z10 and landscape mode fits full-screen fine. I was able to get full-screen on my Q using videos and youtube, but the streaming site I was using it was the small box. Not a big issue, because I'm always near my PB or my wife if I'm watching TV anyways.

    Thanks guy!

I think even with pinch to zoom, it's still gonna be in that smaller box.

Thanks but that only acts as a receiver client and not for net streaming media. I have that app and plex but it's not enough.

It depends on which parts you pinch.

I was amazed the first time I watched a movie from the pb on the TV. I couldn't get over the quality.

Now my only wish is that I had a pb with more memory space. I only have the 16gb so I keep most if my pb movies on my computer.

Same here. I bought my 32gb a couple years ago now for $200 CAD, brand new from bestbuy. I was looking for the 64gb version ($250) but there were none to be found at the time.
