Reading this thread brings back memories. When I first joined this forum even negative thoughts regarding the pb would get one tarred and feathered and escorted to the edge of town by vigilante fanboy.
This is a discussion forum and not lala land, voicing ones opinion (be it positive or negative ) is what it's supposed to be all about.
I have always wondered if Blackjackxx ever returned under a new moniker?

I am still waiting for Search on a Webpage in the Native Browser (nevermind organizing bookmarks) and for the ability to email a photo direct from the camera or photo app.

Fanboys apparently leave their logical faculties on the floor once they log in. Out comes the nasty ganging-up playground nonsense because hey, everyone's anonymous on the Internet

So old man, can I come and take a few bottles of your Henessy Priv?
I keep a list of special people that I respect on this forum who have unlimited access to anything in my home, but to avoid upsetting the fanboys I won't list them all here. Needless to say lexlutherxx and yourself are on the list. Please feel free to make yourself at home. My home is your home!

I've just built a private entrance to my cellar for you my friend. That post was perfect! When I made early posts on here it was along those lines and actually what these people don't say is what they mean. I once started a thread titled "the time has come the walrus said" and was berated on it just like the op. I can't speak for the OP but in my case read:

"I don't understand this playbook and I'm that pissed off that I'm leaving bb unless someone of more bb experience than I have can tell me that I am doing something wrong and therefore not to leave"

As they post it on a playbook forum, if they are genuine then they are asking for help in a roundabout way. Never the less out come the fanboys and because you have had the nerve to say something that they don't like they brand you a troll.

Been there, worn the 'T' shirt, read the book, wrote the book, seen the film and acted in the film!

Well done for stating it as well.

ps Is it any worse than having yet another boring thread about the might be, could be, actually seen, announced or bb10 coming soon to the pb. But it's what the fanboys love to read. They probably work in a car wash but think they are System Analysts.
But if it wasn't for those posts...then we would truly be bored waiting for the next 'word' from Thor...and we wouldn't have anything to 'wax poetic' at....

I sometimes wonder where the 'humour' is...and when that happens...I just show up here...wait a while and it shows up...Perhaps its something to do with age....or background....who knows...but ...i have come to the realization that the older i get the less i care about 'sugar coating the truth'....I'm sure there are others here (I don't want to mention names Sad_Old_Man...) that feel the same.

Well, the day thay I never thought would arrive finally came. After 10 years with a BB by my side I am know with another operating system. I won't say which so as not to start a flame war, but BB did too little too late.

Its a sad day when BB itself has forced us to have too choose another platform because of the slow updates, glitches and lack of support to their core group of users.

Good bye BB..... it,s not me, its you.

Apparently he wants us to take the ground of the Thermopolae Pass... Supposedly Leonaidas said that to the Persians; though with the wonders of Greek grammar (at least from what I can remember from college almost 20 years ago) there's no way to really pass the meaning on in English....
It was in response to the Persian army's demand that the Spartans surrender their weapons at the Battle of Thermopylae.

No wonder why Thor thought about "dumb tablet" everytime PlayBook is being discussed...

I understand the OP, I have had a Z10 for 6 weeks now. I get more frustrated with it, and disappointed in it, by the day.

If my employer didn't mandate Blackberry, and only Blackberry, I would have shipped it back a month ago.

I came here looking or answers to questions. Had about use of the phone. What a mistake that was. No help ever offered but a great deal of abuse and insults for ever asking questions, or even worse, daring to express doubts about the BB.

OP - good luck. Spare a thought for those of us stuck with these damn things.

I get that on the Z10 forum as well. They wouldn't help a blind man across the road unless he was a registered fanboy. I have two Z10s and share your views on them as smartphones but if you need any help with the Z10 dont hesitate to ask and if I can help I will do. It's a kind of thing we tend to do here on the pb forum. Well some of us do!

I am in the same situation as you. My employer is BB only so I use BB.

I've read a few of your posts. For the most part they are negative toward BB with a lot of name calling. Your 3rd post in the forum is a response of "Are you 12?". You are going reap what you sow. If you ask legitimate questions you will get legitimate answers. You may have to sift through a few sarcastic responses like "Are you 12?" first though.

It's a bit humorous to see that the people that claim Blackberry isn't listening to their customers are the first to criticize someone for explaining why they are leaving Blackberry.
I agree that the OP was very vague with his reasoning but Blackberry needs to know why they are loosing customers. I also agree that this forum is not the best way to get Blackberry's attention.

That being said, here's my story.

My wife just informed me that she would like a "Smartphone". She is using a BB Curve with OS7.
I asked what she wanted it to do. When she explained what her friend and my sister were using their phones for I discovered that the apps they were using are not available for BB but, of course, are available for Android and iPhone.
How do you convince someone to stick with Blackberry in this situation?

These are the people that make or break a Blackberry, not geeks like us.
The general public expect all phones to have the same capabilities. Blackberry and Windows Phone are not going to succeed with the virtue of being unique.
Developers haven't got the time to develop for the underdog operating systems and we shouldn't expect them to. These people are working for a living and need to target the largest audience. The people developing for Blackberry are fans of the platform and I thank them for that.

Well said. And the fanboys will say - move on. They miss the point that niche products get niche 3rd party support. Chicken-egg situation.

I've been reading the q10 forum (not much interested in the z10) and each time somone from OS7 asks where a feature is, they are met with: "This is bb10 and is a new platform so you should not expect it to contain x, y, z". But Rim has always provided x, y, z and there's no reason that a new platform can't contain OLD features - like profiles with different alerts, auto-on/off, an alarm that wakes even an OFF q10 as well as the other x, y z functions. These old "features" provided options and many folks liked those options and folks who don't want them can either ignore them if they are provided or turn them off.

So, what, we have another OS that is more like i and a? I guess BB thinks those other platforms are more successful and they are. So now we have compromise. Maybe they will be successful like those others. Time will tell.

The forums are there for everyone to read. I get berated for saying the Z10 is crap which it is. But people even on here tell me I'm a troll for saying it and this is a pb forum?

In my opinion for what it's worth, bb10 is one of two things and only one of these apply. Thors attempt to make the company more resellable, or another half baked knee jerk reaction to market pressure that makes them release a half finished OS yet again.

Just show me one! Positive review of bb10 from any of the high tech gadget review sites on the Internet and there are hundreds of them. It reads like the normal child's school report, "shows a lot of promise but could do better"!

Oh and we are all desperate to get it on our pb? Mind you it will keep the fanboys active slagging everyone off for not saying it's wonderful when/if it arrives !

Sadly enough I believe you may have hit the nail on the head. Do not get me wrong I really like my BB (9790 & PB) but it may be looking like we got sold a bill of goods (that may sound bad). Nonetheless I would like to see the company really work at making sure that before releasing an update or a new OS to catch our attention. it is thought threw, I mean really tested put through it through its paces make sure it works the way you planned it to and make sure you plan for the future...

I know this may not sit well with all of you heck it tastes bad to me now but I need to vent my thoughts you all know how we feel and some may think the same. I just do not like all the uncertainty...

Many of posts have been very negative to BlackBerry, that is a function of how I am feeling about the company, and the product since I became a Z10 user.

If this is an example of the best, I don't hold out much hope.

For all its weaknesses my Bold was a better device.

We really have to do our research and not depend on what we are used to.
I use auto-on/off every day to save battery life. My wife uses auto-on/off and the alarm every day.
These are things I never even thought I would have to verify if I were to get a new Blackberry.

I understand your frustration with the crippled BB10 Bridge a little better now.
