Is there a setting to activate the gps in the PlayBook OS? Every app I use don't find my location. Could the gps be broken? Am I the only one having this issue?

same problme here...google maps, poynt, bing cannot find my location
Gps is always on. Make sure you're somewhere where it can get signal (i.e. Outside)
There are roughly 12,561 past threads discussing this issue :-) .
You're not the only one, but so far there's little evidence that almost anyone actually has a defective GPS so with the right combination of changes to what you're doing it's likely you can make it work.
Since we haven't posted this lately:
1. GPS technically doesn't work inside, so unless you're near a window or on the top floor of a wooden house you need to be outside.
2. GPS works poorly around tall buildings (reflections) or just about anything that can block the weak satellite signal, including trees, heavy cloud cover, your body, or some other things.
3. The antenna is in the lower right corner when the PlayBook is held in the usual orientation: do NOT cover it with your hand
4. There is no "Assisted GPS" on the PlayBook yet so you don't get the speedup from the cellular network that phones do. The first time you use it, you may need to wait 20-30 minutes or even longer before the "ephemeris" data is received from the visible satellites, and if some go down during that time you'll need to wait longer for the new ones to send their data as they come up above the horizon.
5. In past versions, GPS could get "stuck" where it still ran and used power but was non-functional. This is supposed to be fixed in 2.0 but it's too soon to confirm that. You may need to do a restart before trying this, if it's not fixed.
6. If you've used it before but it's been a while or you've moved a long way you'll need to wait longer.
7. Some apps are poorly written or simplistic and will give up after trying to get readings for only a while. The free Compass app, and some others, are persistent and will work, but Bing, probably Poynt, and some others do not. Be sure to use the right tool when you're still getting this sorted out.
Phew.. after writing that, I decided I should have just searched and posted a link, so here's one that likely contains similar info plus a whole thread on this: http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...ml#post7101822
Thanks for all the info, I'll be more patient in waiting for the gps;)
It's working here outdoors only
