My day 1 playbook Bought April 19th 2011 has some issues. For the past year or so, I have been dealing with my Playbook screen being turned on and most times the colours look like a film negative, and a few hits (sometimes a lot more than a few) and the screen would go back to normal.

And then last week I was in Arkansas for a trade show, and went to use my Playbook camera to have it fail on me with an Error 4003, so finally was able to make a backup and tried a security wipe and a brick and debrick method.

To no avail, so decided to call BB support this morning, told them about both issues, and about an hour later on the phone with tech support, finally they said ok we will be sending you a new PB...

While on the phone, reading CrackBerry and the dreaded BB10 news not coming to the PB, I was talking to the tech guy, and this was news to him, he said he has been using a beta test of BB10 on the playbook, but he did say it was running horribly slow, so he said he wasn't surprised that the announcement came out.

Well at least I will have a new PB and nice to see that even after 2yrs, BlackBerry is working still to keep current customers happy and standing by their product when major issues like the Error 4003 and screen turning to a negative colour even way after the warranty period is done.

Good job BlackBerry for keeping this BlackBerry customer somewhat happy on this grim day for the PlayBook.

Just curious, what # did you call for support? I'm having a similar issue with my 1st playbook, never even considered calling it in.

i hope so too, I'm supposed to be going away to my cottage the last week of July, so it would be nice to have my PB back in time for that. They said 3 business days to get a FedEx box to me to send the PB back, and they said once they get it back, about 10 business days to get my new PB. So i might right on the cusp of me leaving lol.

    Good to hear.

We all want BB10 on the PlayBook. But what's the point if it's just going to be slow and laggy? I think most of us would have been happy with an upgraded web browser (remove Air), upgraded keyboard (remove Air), and make BlackBerry World apps compatible. They should have just done that and named it BB10 PlayBook Edition.

I wonder if we'll ever see this beta your tech support guy had. I'd install it on my device just to see how it worked.
