    I was trying to do a repair on the PlayBook while trying to load a movie onto it when Desktop Manager said that the device was disconnected. Then I noticed that the screen was frozen, and remained frozen after repeat attempts of holding the power button down. The screen what was frozen was the first start up screen "BlackBerry PlayBook", with just white letters and black screen. I let the battery drain completely, and when it was plugged back in, it is still frozen.

    So confused! I've never had a product remain frozen after the battery died. Any suggestions?

    scrimp9890, "after repeated attempts of holding the power button down"... are you certain you're doing that correctly? It does require you to hold it down for a full 10 seconds. If you have one of the "recessed" power buttons that's rather hard to activate properly in the first place, it can be quite difficult to achieve this with just your finger.

    If after holding it down solidly for the full 10s, the screen is still on, then your power button is defective and I'm afraid I know of no remedy for you except an RMA...

    What kind of repair were you doing? I'm confused as to why you would be repairing and loading a movie at the same time.

    Not at the same time, that's not even possible. I plugged it into the computer, tried to load up a movie, and it gave me issues and told me I needed to repair the device. I don't remember exactly what it said, I wasn't expecting an issue so I didn't commit it to memory.

    Try the Debrick method....

    Perform a backup of your pb if you can using Desktop Manager or, at least, manually coping any unique data, photos, voice recordings, documents, etc.

    1) Turn your playbook OFF by holding down the power button
    2) Let your playbook sit for about 10 minutes as earlier suggested.
    3) After letting the PB sit (and still powered off) open up the Blackberry Desktop Software (the latest version)
    4) Once the Blackberry Desktop Software is opened, use the USB Cable and hook the PB to the PC.. THEN power on the Playbook
    5) A screen will show on your computer showing that the device cannot be found
    6) Click on Update. It will take awhile

    Did all that (hubby was on the phone with technical support) and we have to repair it before we can do anything else, and that is what it is currently doing.
