486MB with no applications on. WIFI & Bluetooth are on.
I have 585MB with all apps closed.
I had a lot less than that before clearing my cashe, history, and cookies.
How do you check this?
Options - About - View information about your tablet - Hardware.
The good range is from 400 to 600. It barely can go over 600 because RIM decided to use the other 400 inside the apps so that the time you press the app it doesnt take that much time to open it or load it. This smart way causes apps to open faster! Many other companies do not use this way which causes the apps to open more slowly than on the playbook
funny..i cleared history , cache, etc.. and get less now at 445 compared to 485?
I get 576Mb with all apps closed and with Bluetooth, Bridge and WiFi on. I do see it fluctuate a small amount without any activity on my part.
40 doesnt really Matter
It's normal it will go up & down. Depends on what actions you are performing.
Where is Options?
Bolt icon TOP RIGHT of the screen or swipe down.
Do you mean the little gear icon? I tried that but do not see Options!
565 with wifi and bluetooth, no apps open.
670 with WiFi and bluetooth on no apps open.
No, when you click on that little gear icon or swipe down you are going to the options screen.
I must be stupid.... I don't even see About! :-(
yes... touch : gear ,about, hardware...
450MB free with just wifi and bluetooth on
Yes you will see it, it's on the top of the left screen when you enter the options screen,
by clicking on the bolt look a like icon or swipe down in homescreen.
I have several choices in the left hand column but none of them are called About. Maybe I should. Reboot.
swipe down on the left column to make sure you are at the top of the list .
After each fresh reboot on OS2, I always start with ca580MB.
It used to be ca640MB (if I remember correctly. But for sure in 600MB range) before OS2 update.
Both cases are with WiFi and BT on.
I have no side loaded Androids and no native e-mail running. However, I don't think that the native e-mail eats up that much as my GF, which has native e-mail, one account, always shows ca580MB on each fresh reboot as well.
I get about 520 MB on average with no app running (except for the native PIM services in the background). BT is off. I used to get 650 MB on average under 1.0.8.
So, something is eating up about 20% of previously available memory. I don't think it's the background services. So I believe it's the Android shell.
I wish there was a way to disable/uninstall it.
Hey, there, I call it a GEAR!!! :D
Not for byul:
The Left Column List will generally stay on whatever you last looked at. So ABOUT is at the top of that column. Swipe to move through the various choices. Some items in the Right Column, like ABOUT, have their own dropdown menus to show other things. Some of those Right Column items also may have options below the visible screen, swipe to see those, too.
