I've received this unit from the source.ca and I saw this (pic below) on the diagnostics screen. I have my doubts, but does this look normal

That line only looks to be a split between the different panes. Not positive though...

Does this line only show up here, or is it across the board. If its present all the time, then its a line of dead/screwed pixels, get a replacement.

Not normal. On the Diagnostic screen during setup, the background has no panels. And, if a setup screen is supposed to have panels (like the WiFi screen shown below), then the separating lines would be light-colored, not dark.

Thanks for the replies, I didn't have time to go past that screen so I just left it as I had to go to work.

Nickolas, thanks for the confirmation. I will be returning it for an exchange

It shows up during the first startup, when you first turn on a new PlayBook - a screen or so after the Welcome screen. After finishing the startup, I haven't seen it since.

Appears normal to me. If its only on that screen, its probably a part of that screen.

    Ah, thanks.

To the OP, there is a free app - Display Test. You could use that to see if there's a defect in the display.

The PB has a one year warranty to the original purchaser. It also has 90 free Tech support. I do not know how Rim deals with "quasi-tech support v. warranty"
