On the a black screen or when the device is turned off there is a faint hair line square grid when the light hits it right - anyone else noticing this on their PlayBook??

My guess is that its normal for a touchscreen but my OCD needs some other options

I see it too in bright, direct sunlight. Those lines are the sensors for the touchscreen nothing to worry about.... I would be more worried if they were not there, or impressd that RIM had come up with some new touchscreen technology...

Yeah, the light has to hit the screen a certain way.

I see it. I assumed it was ok, I've seen similar on other touch screen devices.

RIM support via email just advised me that the 'faint line grid' is not norrmal regardless of the light angle. I sent a follow-up email with more info...hopefully I can get a more indepth answer.

They're probably part of the touchscreen. I have them on my iPod touch as well.

yes i have them too... if RIM says they are not suppose to be on any of the devices, do all our PBs get recalled?

my pb also has them. they are supppsed to have them most touch screen phones ect have them. if you have a touch screen look very closely they are there.

That's what I figured and told the RIM tech this but he insists they are not supposed to be there - instead of emails I'm going to call tomorrow in hopes of dealing with someone that's a little more knowledgeable...

they're there. use the flashlight on your bb in video mode on the screen and you'll catch the right angle. this is a non issue imho.

It is just the grid that the touchscreen uses to find out where your finger is and make it match up with the screen.
