    Hi bbking

I used to have a BB9700 (think it was OS6), and my PB bridged fine with it.

    Welcome to our community

    All the best

    Welcome to CB,

Depends if you use the touch screen more than a larger keyboard on your 9700. For me, I'd go with the 9700.

Any BlackBerry with BlackBerry OS 5.0 or higher works perfectly well

really appreciate your fast replies, im used to torch keyboard so that would not be a problem to me. My only worry is the battery life of torch 9800, it would not last a day for me. im pretty much a hardcore bb user. Thinking of getting an extra batt or upgrading my 9700 to os 6, tried it b4 but didnt work, os 5 is more stable on 9700. Waiting for bb10 to come out of its shell!

I have used a 9700,9800 and 9900. The speed seemed to increase in that order.

Congrats on the new PlayBooks. I bridge with my 9800 and it works well. Battery life does become an issue, but I'm squeezing every last breath out of my worn out 9800 before BB10 drops.

With my 9800 I could get about 6 hours of streaming music to the PB. In that 6 hours I didn't do much else with the phone. I would get the same amount of time streaming music directly from the phone. As a comparison I don't think you lose any battery life performing the same fuctions on the either phone or PB.

Heard of the great browser of pb, I'll give my laptop an early retirement. I use it mostly in web browsing and some office works. I'll try if my pb could to that , well then may be my laptop could start gathering dust

Welcome bbking! Great choice and I hope it fits your needs.

Maybe try the OS6 again on your 9700. Besides my 9930, I still have my 9650 and the OS6 upgrade is great on it, as well as bridging fine to my PB. I would think the 9700 would be better.

Guys, he said he does not have WiFi. Did you all forget the PlayBook NEEDS WiFi to run the initial setup? o.0

OP, if you can't get WiFi AT ALL, then consider a phone with Mobile Hotspot capabilities (only BlackBerry running OS7 can do that. On other platforms, the feature exists but I would't know which phone to point you at).

About the devices you have, both would do just fine since, but I'd suggest getting the 9700 on OS6 (if it isn't already).

I did read that, but surely he's able to find somewhere with wifi for just the intial setup. Even iTaiwan has over 3000 public wifi hotspots in government and public facilities. Go to a hotel lobby, airport, hospital etc.....

Well, he sure will be able to now, thanks to Jafobabe...

The point is, not mentioning it to him would most likely end up in a very bad 1st impression.
