Email "refresh" doesn't retrieve new messages?
So after downloading OS 2.1 I've been trying the native "Messages" app on my PlayBook since it supports IMAP folders.
However, it seems that the playbook doesn't actually retrieve new messages when I try to "refresh" my list of emails by swiping down on the list of messages. It only polls for new messages when I boot up the machine.
I've tried setting the update schedule to manual, 24 hours, 1 hour, whatever. Nothing changes the refresh behavior.
I'm using it with an IMAP email server hosted on a private business web site with Network Solutions. I've set "push" to off, since my Netsol subscription doesn't support it.
Anybody else having this problem? Basically the only way I can get new emails without waiting for the device to automatically poll for them is to reboot. :whew:
EDIT: It appears that if I go into the settings for the email account, make changes, and then save those changes, it will poll the account and retrieve new messages.
Re: Email "refresh" doesn't retrieve new messages?
Um, well, it appears that IMAP folders don't actually work in 2.1 either. At least not privately hosted ones. I hit the folder button and can see them but when I click on any it will not go to them. I have no trouble with my other email clients. Even "Logicmail" on my BB Tour does fine with them.
EDIT: Wow ok every time I tried to tap on any of the IMAP folders that popped up in the folder listing (none of which I could actually access), it would copy the last message that was received to my IMAP inbox. Bizarre. I now have 6 copies of the last email that was sent to me.
What a mess. Looks like RIM still can't get their IMAP folder access right. Guess I'm going to have to stop using the native Messaging app again :(
Re: Email "refresh" doesn't retrieve new messages?
Works awesomely perfect for my Outlook, Hotmail, Gmail and corporate email accounts. Sorry to hear about your troubles.
