    At the end of February, The Economist app showed a notice that effective Feb 28, they would no longer continue to support and update their PB app. The indicated that service should continue, but would likely end by the end of the year.

    This morning, I tried to open the app and got an error message that it is unable to reach the server.

    The last issue I see the cover for is March 1, but the content is not available for that or any prior issues, as it always was with offline content available.

    Is anyone else having this issue? Is it a temporary problem or did they abruptly end their service on March 1 following their announcement?

    In an effort to determine if it was just you or other devices too, I put the app on my Z30 and it worked just fine. So I would say, that yes it appears PB support is done for them.

    I don't blame them one bit: app developers should only be as committed to a device as the device vendor is... which is zero.

    I agree....though I was hoping I'd have a few more months to consider a replacement....

    The way Thor et. al botched the PlayBook EOL is one of many reasons why I was smiling ear to ear when BlackBerry didn't get acquired and he was booted out with hopefully just a bronze parachute, not the $55 million golden one.

    The app just updated to the March 15 edition, so for the time being, my PB subscription lives on!
