Surprisingly 11 pages of reply and I am lazy to read all...

Basically, the above statement is not true regarding using Playbook charger on Blackberry phones. It is safe to do so and here is why...

The phone basically draws power from the charger, NOT the charger sending power to the phone. So if the phone says it want to draw 1A, even if you have 10A charger, the phone will still charge at 1A.

Its true that the Playbook Charger can charge the phone faster than regular BB charger. The regular BB charger is rated at 750mA. Your phone can draw as high as the battery rating. So if your battery is 1250mAh, then it can draw 1250mA but since your charger is rated at 750mA, theoretically, the phone charges at 750mA. If you put the Playbook charger, it can draw UP TO 1250mA which significantly faster than the original BB phone charger BUT again, your phone will NOT draw 2000mA (2A) from the charger
