Don't use Playbook's browser to do important work! It's not very reliable
- The only time I had problems with the CB site is when I had java & flash enabled. When I turned them off, loaded like a charm. Don't know if you've tried that (& hate that sometimes it's necessary) but know it helped me.03-05-12 11:22 AMLike 0

I have some experience that may be relevant in trouble-shooting this issue. A couple of weeks ago, after I installed os2, I decided to try a couple of video apps in AppWorld, namely "clikplayer", "flash video player" and "movieflvplayer". After installing all 3 to check them out, my browser starting acting wonky. Yes, there were a number of annoying browser crashes, including instances where the swipe-down to access tabs and options didn't bring up the options/tab panel. Once the browser just sat there and nothing was tappable or swipable - had to use the 3-button restart. After that, I uninstalled all 3 of those programs. Then I used DS7 to back up my pb, I then re-installed os2, and restored my backup. Since then (that was almost 2 weeks ago), no browser crash problems for me, until I clicked on the smurfberries link above.03-05-12 11:27 AMLike 0 - Since so many CB regulars are watching this thread, I have another pb browser issue illustrated by cb.com. When at the forum page, if you tap "search this forum", the text entry window pops up, but not the keyboard. Tap inside the text entry box, and yeah, the keyboard pops up but the text entry box vanishes as soon as I start typing the first character. WTF!!!!!03-05-12 11:32 AMLike 0

- But Chadface, do you agree it should not work that way? It just makes the PB browsing experience feel a little... ummm... flakey. We really shouldn't need to find a workaround for such minor glitches. RIM should get on with fixing these glitches, smurfberries crashes, vanishing text entry boxes, hidden paste option (as kbz mentioned).03-05-12 11:59 AMLike 0
- Just my 2 cents
I don't get to many crashes with the browser.. When I do its usually when I'm being impatient and clicking the same thing over and over thinking that it's not working the first time (I don't do that anymore lol) that said. If I know I'm writing a large amount of text and don't Wana have to do it over just as a precaution I always open docs to go and simply write it in there as I have yet to see docs 2 go crash I know I'm not gonna have to redo it all just copy paste into the text field on the browser works like a charm.03-05-12 03:13 PMLike 0 - To be honest I had it crash many times in one sitting but I was going onto flash heavy websites so it depends how you use it... I did a reset and it hasn't happened again! Even with the odd crash the browser is so quick and works so well I don't mind waiting for fixes!03-05-12 06:09 PMLike 0

- The browser crashes often enough for me that I have that feeling of anticipation that it will happen when I use it. Like when you are using some buggy software that you need to work with and keep hitting the save button so that you don't lose your work. It really should be better.03-05-12 07:24 PMLike 0
- My playbook has never crashed since I got it for X-mas!!! 64g goodness!! Now mt BB Bold 9900 is another story!! No power!03-05-12 08:19 PMLike 0
- Wow, your browser crashes? Not making fun, but I have never seen a technology that hasn't crashed a browser.rotorwrench likes this.03-05-12 09:28 PMLike 1

I agree with above sentiment. Fortunately, I have had none so far; no smurfberries, no porn, no crashes.03-05-12 11:10 PMLike 0 - Just how many tabs were open?
I find that the more tabs that are open, the more it crashes.
Often websites open in another browser...including the weather app (just open the monthly forecast-it opens in another window/tab).
clearing all cache/cookies/etc often shuts down the browser completely on my PB
Try the free browers in app world (Simple Browser or something like that)
It's never crashed when I use it.Last edited by yaletownboy; 03-06-12 at 12:02 AM.
03-05-12 11:59 PMLike 0 - I can only speak for myself and my experiences ...
OS2 browser is much more stable for me than it was under the beta. The smurfberries site forced closed which was the first such event I experienced on the Playbook since OS2.
Mind you, I started OS2 on a brand new 64GB Playbook and reloaded my apps from Appworld ( pain to lose my Plants vs Zombies progress ). I did not transfer any settings or restore a backup from my other Playbook. So I have lots of storage space, no legacy issues with left over OS1 or beta OS2 files, and few Android apps sucking up system resources running in the background. I do surf with multiple tabs alot and I sure wish new tabs opened in the background.
I have an iPad 1 which forces closes the browser on occasion as has my Android A500 but my Playbook at he moment is the most reliable of them all.
It would be very nice to have a rock solid browsing experience all around but since I experienced issues on all my gizmos the OP does have a point to be sure. I would hate to be 90% into a form on the web and have it force close.
Given how varied everyone's experience with the Playbook OS2 browser has been I wonder how much of the really bad experiences are caused by some of the items not affecting myself like I mentioned above (clean install, Android player sucking up RAM, etc.) ??
I did a full reboot and all is well again for now even going back to the websites I was dying on (mind you the smurfberries site still crashes). This makes me darn suspicious that the browser issues are memory related especially since I was mucking about with a whack of Android apps just before the surfing crashes.03-06-12 11:28 PMLike 0 - Originally Posted by StanWiz View Post

Actually at times it is sad to read.
Got my PB for some time now and the crash is worse on 2.0 most crash happen when on site like crackberry The fact that the browser crash don't mean the pb suck it's just mean that if enough people have the problem maybe RIM will try something to fix it
and btw most of us probably can't care less if other browser crash we don't use ipad what do we care that it's crash 3129837129837129 more than the pb browser does? it don't fix the problem we are having03-07-12 12:38 AMLike 2 -
