My ie9 is become useless since it failed to upgrade flash player 11, so for the amount of crashes I have on my pb2.0, I have nothing to complain about.

Browser force closing no more or less frequent than on any of the OS 1.x.x builds or the 2.x.x beta builds on both Playbooks: very occasionally.

Browser crashing once on the 16G under OS2: browser became unresponsive, I could minimize and use other apps, and I closed the browser icon was ghosted out. Could not re-launch browser. Had to do a hard reset of the PB and everything was fine.

This on my 16G that I use daily since April 2011 and on the 64G I use less frequently. No instance of browser crash on the 64G but I've had the odd force close. Browser re-launches fine after any of these incidents, it is infrequent and certainly happens less than the Explorer 8 shutdowns on my work PC and Firefox/Explorer 9 lockup/shutdowns on my home PC.

    FWIW

I wonder if the crash is caused by sideloaded apps + poor memory management.

Not in my case. No sideloaded apps. No multiple apps open at the same time (2 max). No Android apps. Mine crashes with both multiple tabs open and with only one. So in my case, it's pretty random.

But I am among the minority that observed fewer crashes under OS 2.0. So it may not be as random for the people reporting more crashes under the new OS.

I am hoping this thread will actually help identify a pattern.

Ok. To me the hardware and OS are the same for everyone. The fact some people don't have or have less crashes while others have frequent crashes makes me thinking it's something added on by users, like the apps.

    1. I noticed that my OS2 browser usually only crashes on one or two sites - most notably on XDA-Developers where it always crashes.
    2. I bought Simple Browser as a cross check and Yep! it too crashes on XDA-Developers.

Now I'm wondering whether it's the browser itself or the OS2 TCP/IP stack on OS2. But somneone more versed than me should probably comment

F2, you are crazy How do you find the ones you want to navigate to?
"What me worry!" I generally forget but like last night, I started researching batteries/chargers for the new 9930 phone. I did a google search and that led to another 5 tabs. Then I checked out Crackberry's store and that led to a few more tabs. Then there are discussions here, that I may keep open in a tab to just refresh. And it grows and grows. Next thing 1 million tabs. And firefox grows more and more sluggish!

(up there now is a plumbing place, a flooring place, a restaurant or two, recommendations on dvd rippers and those companies .... a few lists of android bar file...)

And KB, no, this is my own doing. Not a whiff of porn (well, phone and tech porn) anywhere.

I will admit when it mentioned 195, I abandoned ship and left them to die. Reloaded one tab and began anew.

Or maybe a tweek needed if there is a glitch or hiccup in the connection and it isn't handling it right.

From there I may wonder if the problem is not somehow related to the known BT/Wifi connexion bug. If you're bridged and your wifi is lost, then the browser may attempt - unsuccessfully - to swap to the bridge mode and crash.
This is what I have in mind and have no proof for that, since my wifi ... never drops.
You may try to disable bridge when browsing on wifi and see if your browser experience is better (you should the have a "network error" prompt instead of a crash).
Please return results ... that may be an accurate answer to others if confirmed.
Thanks for the suggestion, Superfly, but I don't have a BB phone and thus don't bridge.

Voted on the second option from top.

Well, crashes happen to my computer browsers as well, i.e. safari and IE. I usually have 3 taps open simultaneously. I say my crashes rate is only about 5% since OS2 update. However, in contrary to some, my crashes is more after the update than when it was on the most recent official OS1.0. Previously, it will go weeks before crash happened without device reboot.

Under OS2, my browser routinely crashes - it seems that it brings every session to an end, instead of me closing it manually LOL. That might be overstating it, as I'm sure there have been times when it hasn't crashed, but the crash-exit seems to have become "normal" under OS2.

Under 1.08 browser crashes were exceptional events. So much so that when one happened, there was an "Oh, " moment.

I tend to browse with multiple tabs (around 3), and for quite a time (30+ minutes). Nothing else is running in the background (well, nothing I've initiated anyway, but I'm sure OS2 is doing it's thing and it will have tasks running). Given the session length, and anedotal reports that OS2 has a bigger memory footprint, maybe it's a memory management issue?

Whatever the actual cause, it's a very real issue for me.
What I have done is, changed the memory the pb stores from 30 days to only one day, \i have a lot of apps on mine, and find this clears the memory..

Browser crash was very annoying to the point that I decided to do a full wipe and OS re-install.
I know many users always suggest a wipe before a "major" OS update, but I tried to go without and it was unbearable.

I have only crashed once, just like on my iPad2 while responding to a thread in FB. Would be curious if most crashes occurred in similar manner or not.

Just voted, my PB crashes daily since 2.0 was installed from scratch with a security wipe. It crashes the most when I hit the "Clear All" button when I am getting rid of my history, cache and cookies. Poof.

My PB is pure so far.. no android apps installed.. no beta.. no sideloads, zip. Running 2.0 .

i voted it crashed a few times a week. When I browse I have 2-3 tabs open on average, and usually no other apps open. If there's a difference between os1 and os2, I haven't noticed is yet. It seems to crash quite randomly. I really can't put my finger on it. It seems so different for each user, so there must be something different in each of our cases. It could just be the websites we browse. I regularly clear out the history, cache, local storage after almost every browser session (not even kidding! Also, I try not to touch the cookies, I delete them maybe every 2 weeks because its a pain having to re-login to places and whatnot).

So far, is it annoying? At times.. at times not. I make sure I have the browser re-open the last pages I visited if it does crash, but what I'm really afraid of is if people use it (like my girlfriend) and are doing something important, like writing up an important whatever, and then it just goes 'poof' on them. I let it not get to me though, as it is the only real complaint I have with the PB. Just hoping an update will fix.

My browser was crashing a bit more noticeably when I first updated to 2.0 .(not to a frustrating point mind you) BUT since clearing my Internet history/cookies and stuff It's running like a charm for the most part I think people that use alot of sites that require login info that they have saved are more reluctant to clear that data but if u use those sites enough.. Why not just clear the junk out It fixed my crashing issues for the most part

My PB is set to clear history/cache automatically every day. But crashes are still there.

But will be interesting to see if clearing history helps others. Thanks for the suggestion.

Swipe from top. Go to settings > Privacy and Security > Keep History For [1 day]

You can also enable Private browsing, if you don't want any history saved.

That's not necessarily true. The update was over 100MB larger for those in the US because of the video store, but any other differences would not be obvious to us without examining the package. There's also firmware and board revisions that we can't see without a diagnostic tool.

    Good points.

Also, usage (e.g. websites visited) is different across users as well.
