No idea...there are very few Playbook 4G owners and I suspect even fewer of them are actively trying to use the device with mobile data.

Lte still works on my Playbook. I bought the 4g lte playbook couple of weeks ago. I runs like a champ on TMO for me anyway. Of course I am also using a TMO sim.

Nothing there?... Based on my experience of PB 4G LTE, you do have to use a data only SIM, not a phone SIM as Voice, SMS & MMS are not supported by the PB, just data.

Besides the issues of data versus phone, there is also the fact that sine the PlayBook OS hasn't been touched in years, the carrier information table is still ancient; perhaps whichever carrier these anonymous commenters are using doesn't have whatever special sauce is in the information table necessary to work.

Nowadays a cellphone could act as a wifi router, we can connect our non 4G lovely BlackBerry PlayBook to our cellphone.
Since I have unlimited data plan for my Z30 so when I'm away from home, I connect my non 4G lovely BlackBerry PlayBook to my Z30 using wifi. Simple.

"... carrier information table..." Do we know such a table exists in the PB and if so, where... /etc/ perhaps?

It's in a bar file, sys.data.carrier_data. A bunch of files listing and defining (among other things) BlackBerry carrier IDs, MCC/MNCs, APNs, and, for the Americans, crapware. BB10 has a similar thing going on.

As for where it is in the OS, this is the list of symlinks it makes (destination at right).

    ln:assets/data/config:/etc/carrier/config
    ln:assets/data/ids:/etc/carrier/ids
    ln:assets/data/mep:/etc/carrier/mep
    ln:assets/data/authman/50.acl:/etc/authman/subsystem/50.acl
    ln:assets/data/authman/30.acl:/etc/authman/subsystem/30.acl
    ln:assets/data/authman/6.acl:/etc/authman/subsystem/6.acl
    ln:assets/data/authman/6.res:/etc/authman/subsystem/6.res
    ln:assets/data/authman/50.res:/etc/authman/subsystem/50.res
    ln:assets/data/authman/30.res:/etc/authman/subsystem/30.res
    ln:assets/data/dll_config/usagemeter.conf:/usr/carrier/config/usagemeter.conf
    ln:assets/data/dll/usagemeter.so:/usr/carrier/dll/usagemeter.so
    ln:assets/data/dll/billingservice.so:/usr/carrier/dll/billingservice.so
    ln:assets/data/dll/ATT-WISPr.so:/usr/carrier/dll/ATT-WISPr.so
    ln:assets/data/dll/usagemeterbridge.so:/usr/carrier/dll/usagemeterbridge.so

I have a backup AT&T sim for my Blackberry phone. I just put my phone sim in my 32 GB model Playbook and it works with no problem. It does not have to be a data only sim to work.

Fortunately, we don't have AT&T where I live and non-AT&T phone sims don't connect to mobile network, but data only sims work just fine.

So what he did with his AT&T phone sim won't work for a T-mobile sim?

My 4G PlayBook works fine with a Freedompop sim... I just tend to have no reason to take it out of the house lately.

My PB 4G still use 3G very well. It's much faster than some phones with same 3G, including SS S6 edge. As soon as the 4G is common in my country, I'll try it on my PB and give comment.

I popped a t-mobile sim into the playbook 4g this morning and it says not connected.

Any recommendations? I went to the mobile data settings and it is set for automatic, lte/cdma.

All our phones get five bars of 4g.

The PlayBook LTE only has LTE on Band 4/17 and HSPA+ on Band 1/2/5/6, according to the spec sheet: https://help.blackberry.com/en/conte...ok_r052_EN.pdf

It might be the case that you're in a network that's using something else, like Band 2 or 12: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-4988
