Back to the original topic, here is what @BlackBerryDev had to say about the BB10 Dev Beta for PlayBook:

Twitter / BlackBerryDev: @adamschuetze #BB10 builds for PlayBook will be available in developer beta ahead of launch, but this beta is still a little ways away ^BZ

Personally, I would love to see a BB10 Dev Beta before Christmas, but it wouldn't break my heart if it doesn't come until 2013.

Until then, I have a 64GB PlayBook running OS 2.1 and a 64GB PlayBook running Dev Alpha OS 10.0.9.388 on top of OS 2.1.

Get the phones out first then BB10 for the Playbook. Are you all bored with 2.1 already ?

Nop, I am quite happy with 2.1 right now except that it doesn't support my native language input method. Personally, I am pumped by all the news and rumors about BB10 but I would not buy a BB10 until seeing it in action in my hands.

Also I am a little worried about BB10 not having enough beta testing before the launch. Hate to see BB10 ruin by small things like below due to lacking of feedbacks:

    1. Device switching experience from old berries or other devices.
    2. Home screen aesthetics
    3. etc...

The unique redesign of software structure actually makes competitiors impossible to copy the core features of BB10 in a short period. The features that can be copied easily either should be protected by patents, or are not key attributes. Keeping everything under wrapped before launch won't help much, because if it's easily to copy, it will be copied quickly after launch.

Anyway, just an idea for RIM to consider, no biggie.

Me, too, on my Bold 9930 for which my contract does not run out till about a year after bb10 launches.

Now if Rim wants a dramatic uptake of the bb10 units, they will provide a smooth, reasonable method of upgrading with a trade-in or similar scheme. I will certainly not drop anywhere near non-contract price on these phones and even contract prices are generally too high.

My 9900 contract ends January 2014 but I just couldn't go without a Bold BB10 so I'll buy one outright as early as possible.

I wouldn't like to see it before the launch date because it can ruin the excitement of interested people...

But, if RIM launch BB10 beta on PB, devs without a Dev Alpha device but with a PB could develop apps without having a Dev Alphaand the amount of apps will increase
