I'm new to owning a tablet and am not sure whether to charge it in the case or not. For iPods it was recommended not to because the battery gave off heat and needed proper ventilation when plugged in. The Playbook can get pretty hot when in use/plugged in so I was curious if you take yours out or leave it in?

I have this case: Do you charge your Playbook in its case?-34ynt37.jpg but it's a bit of a hassle to take it out each time the battery is low.

Nothing is wrong with charging the playbook in any OEM case. The other brands I cannot speak for as there is countless models which may distribute heat differently. I personally do not use my case when charging as I like to use the charging cradle.

My PB has a silicone case and I don't usually remove it when I charge the tablet. I haven't experienced any issues.

I charged all my devices in their case. Including ipod touch, 9900 and playbook. I just have a question for those with rapid charger and cradle charger. Will I be able to charge my Playbook without removing the case? I got a ballistic jackets on my playbook.

You can not charge on a cradle with any case on it

My experience is my PBs generate more heat when in use than when charged.

I charge one of my 16gb PBs in the cradle but in a trimmed silicone case so it will fit.
For my other PBs, I use the rapid travel chargers, while they in theirs cases (another silicone one and a leather portfolio type). Never any issues, heat or otherwise.

I use rapid and standard chargers, always charge my and wife's Playbook in their cases. So far I did not experienced any heat related issues from charging.

I always charge using the rapid charger and the playbook stays in its Targus Convertible Case. Never had any issues.

The PB installed in the Blurex cover can be charged in the cradle with the cover open if you have a few inches of space behind it.

Mine has been charged in an Otterbox Vault using the Rapid Charger since it was purchased in March. The 32 gig was similarly charged but it is now in a bluex? case and still charges that way. Both are charged with the Travel Rapid Charger. No issues that I'm aware about.

I would if I could. I mean I could with the case open and the regular usb charger but I don't like to do it that way. I have the rapid charging cradle and the original blackberry convertible case which won't allow my playbook to fit with the case on. Besides that I have a Bodyguardz black carbon fiber skin and my playbook is so sexy when it's outta the case. LOL.

I have one of these cases:

I just spin the playbook around so the ports are exposed and use the rapid charger overnight. No problems thus far.

Always charge with my I-Con Click Playbook Case since I got it. Never had any issues and its a great case. The only thing it lacks is portrait mode capability, but otherwise it's fantastic!
