As a statistician you probably also know the importance of a random sampling of a population.
Yes, and this is a random sampling.

But keep in mind pb has 662 reviews in 1.5 yrs and hd has 428 reviews in 1.5 month?

Besides, I would define "victory" as sale volume and profit, not review.
Doesn't matter if people liked it 18 months ago or 1.5 months ago. At the time they posted, that was their opinion.

Just for future reference, you shouldn't read to much into Amazon reviews. Anyone can post a review, whether or not they bought the device or not. A lot of people post negative reviews for items they think are too high priced, or companies come in and post negative reviews for a competitors product. You have to wade through a lot of reviews to find people who are actually posting "Real" reviews of products.

The Playbook, though getting long in the tooth, is some really terrific hardware. OS 2.1 is very good, while incomplete. If the software were there to match, RIM would have a real winner.
Amen! The only thing close in hardware quality is the ipad and the Playbook has IMO a far better U.I.
...The only reason the ipad is so popular is because it's a media consumption machine.
...All the big name media monsters can be accessed from the ipad.
...The Playbook doesn't get any of them!

And the population is those who chose to submit reviews not the total population of owners?

There are 1.5 million PlayBooks in the wild and les than a thousand reviews. So yeah, not the total owners. But really now, it's ALWAYS sampling. You will never EVER see statistics that use 100% of anything being studied.

Sorry if I didn't understand your post, it's kinda confusing get, the way you worded it. If this is not what you mean, please do clarify.
