First year engineering students at Dalhousie University received something extra when they started last year a BlackBerry PlayBook. Professors took advantage of the new teaching opportunities created when every student is connected.

Given its ultra portability and power, the PlayBook has given the students the ability to interact with professors at an unprecedented level, explains Dalhousie Professor George Jarjoura.

Having every student using a PlayBook opened up new ways to teach. Students could follow along with course presentations on their PlayBooks, annotating slides with their own notes. Equally as important, given the size of first-year lectures, was the ability to ask questions and take quizzes electronically, in real time.

For some first year students, participation during the question period is very intimidating, especially in large classes with hundreds of students, says Professor Jarjoura. With the PlayBooks, students could ask questions, submit answers and interact with me in real time, as I lecture.

Great move by Blackberry. I own the 16, 32, and 64 G version of the PB, which gives me a great way to check emails and edit documents using both Documents to Go and Kingsoft Office which I can print to my local HP web-printer and oh yea I have a new Q10. Now if I could only get my Office Outlook for my Mac to sync properly with DejaOffice on my PB and Q10 I would be 110% happy.

A capable tablet for sure. I see the faculty plan on doing it again this coming year. I wondering where they are finding the Playbooks.

Oh dear, I wonder what the university procurement department thinks of the PB now, especially when support and upgrades seem nonexistent.

And they do all that on the PlayBook how?

They must have BB10 OS because i see no use for OS 2.1 when you can't even properly send/receive e-mails on time. ERROR 3000!!!!

I am so surprise that you can say that about playbook, it is obvious you do not know that you are talking about because I open emails, do attachment or may be you have been paid to say that. Its all I can think of right now.
