Why hasn't RIM released a coloured playbook? Or atleast in white?
I mocked these up on photoshop and In my opinion they look quite nice.
I was too lazy to do the one laying flat

If RIM isnt ready to give us coloured playbooks, then maybe a housing will be released eventually

There is probably a logical reason as to why the swipe bezel is black. It could be a functional limitation of the material and electronics used to allow it to be swipeable.

But, you can always get a case to cover the rest. And if no one makes one, then that's a money making opportunity.

This is the Henry Ford model - any color as long as it is black. Besides, they have enough trouble with inventory sales, add this to complicate things. But I guess someone could create a screen protector with colors over the bezel area only.

The Incipio feather ultra-light cases add some color and isn't too much on the front. I think the red one looks pretty amazing, too bad I wanted more protection than that so I got a bulkier case. I do prefer the black bezel area however, I wouldn't mind a different colored shell though.

I think that once the Playbook establishes itself a better track record with greater sales, then it will be feasible for RIM to manufacture other colours. The usual white and red would be good for sales.

I'm not very fond of any they actually show but you can upload photos and customize them.

I was confused by the ones that show the image across the screen, thinking that would be terribly intrusive and annoying but a quick youtube search showed me that it's not actually part of the skin, but when you purchase one they email you a matching background to download.

You only colored the bezel and left the sides/back black. If RIM were to release color Playbooks it would probably be the other way around with a black bezel and the rest in color.
