just wondering can you?
Not yet.
There is no app available.
I was able to sideload the ooVoo app but haven't tried to do a video call yet. It looks fully functional from the menu though.

If it is an android sideloaded app, the video&audio chat wont work !
I wonder why RIM isn't pursuing ooVoo as an alternative to Skype.
You do? Even after reading the multiple posts suggesting that RIM will embed skype support into the BB10 video chat client?
I apologize. You have to forgive me for not taking anything that anyone suggests about a future RIM feature in a future RIM product as the gospel truth. I'm cynical like that.
In any case, the ooVoo solution gives RIM a cross platform solution for now, an area RIM has struggled in of late.
You're right that one should be be skeptical of rumors and suggestions regarding the future -- , we've seen that even official promises from RIM themselves don't always end up being accurate. I guess I was thinking that after all this non-starting from RIM regarding an interoperable video chat solution, it surprises me that you'd be surprised by more of it. But I do have to plead guilty to optimism regarding that particular BB10 rumor, since it supposedly came from someone inside RIM.
I see your point. I just get tired of the coy dance with Skyoe. RIM should sideline them with ooVoo.
Yes - not to mention that I have given up on using Skype with my friend in the Philippines and use oovoo only, which seems to work MUCH better for us. I would love to have it on the Playbook. There is a lot of crying for Skype here, but I have lost interest in it because it works so poorly on my friends (probably sub-par) internet service. ooVoo works very well. I wrote the ooVoo people. You all should do the same if you would like to see it.
Has anyone tried ooVoo for video since the OS 2.1 beta? I see that the under video call settings that "use front camera" and "show my video" can be selected (although show my video checkbox does not stay checked when you leave the settings page).
is anyone out there who has tried Comwave for phone calls
:):):):):)
Does oovoo work on the playbook now? I mean voice calls and videochat.
I thought it's generally a no-go as the Android system in OS 2.1 does not allow access to the camera. It's a little frustrating as I'd like to use this tablet when travelling and keeping in touch with family members, but no Oovoo and my wife gets too frustrated with the facebook interface. OS10 should hopefully improve on this (I thought 10.2 would improve the android system), but I'm not willing to put bets down on whether it's coming to the PB or not.
At this point, I would resign myself to what there is on the PB being all that you're going to have. If you need a tab that supports more than just the manufacturer's proprietary and little used video calling software, you need another tab. Funny, in all of the time I had a PB, I only used the front camera once -- to test out Video Chat in the same room as my PC. Never used it with an actual person because I didn't know anyone with a PB.
I may be mistaken but I thought that the camera was available to Android apps. I thought it was added in one of the pb's OS upgrades. I'm correct. I just used Quick App Manager to open the pb's ANDROID camera app and take a photo.
I stand corrected. Could have sworn that that was part of the issue. I guess the oovoo app doesn't have the right calls in the programming to access the PB camera when one converts the apk to bar.
This link doesn't work I download it but it wouldn't is there any way I can download ovoo nd plus I want to download kik messenger can someone help me please
