No.. That feature is called USB On The Go..
And it is presently not supported by the PlayBook.
Well in theory the required stuff is there in the OS but just not enabled.. With no root there is no way of enabling it..
am i right in thinking you cant root a 2.0 ?
sorry i only got it last week so pretty clueless
You could try a wireless WD drive and sideload the WD2GO and WD Photo's apps.
The last rootable version was 2.0.0.4869
But downgrading was locked somewhere near 2.0.0.7917 I believe..
I've never tried the older USB OTG that was made available by the root but I heard it was buggy..
anyone have the link to the WD2GO? i would love to have that ability to watch my movies on my playbook anywhere without having to move my unit from tv to tv

Its too bad RIM cant flip the switch on this.
To be able to use a USB drive is a basic item anymore.

excuse my thickness but what is a wireless WD drive ?
Put it in the cloud like Dropbox or Bluebox.
Even with a rooted Playbook... USB stick support is spotty at best.... Had some interesting experiences with my USB sticks... most not very pleasant.. My rule of thumb... do what the operating system allows... things are usally blocked because the drivers are not fully developed....
