NO CAMERAS WORK NOW!

I can't use my playbook's camera... (neither the front nor the back). When I use the main rear camera, my screen just shows wide vertical gray bars going from almost white to dark grey (8 vertical bars or columns) along with the usual control buttons (shutter, etc.) I tried to upload a picture and screen shot, but the it's not letting me.

(as a separate but related note, my front camera stopped working about two software upgrades ago when RIMM (now BBRY) updated their Android runtime; the error I get when I try to use the front camera is that it is already being used by another application. Now, however, it seems to just show the gray bars instead of an error message and I'm not even sure if it is changing camera views or staying on the same).

This sounds like a known hardware failure. Even if it is out of warranty, it is worth a call to BlackBerry support. There are a number of members who have posted the same problem and BB fixed it no charge.

Yes, they have been known to fix this beyond the warranty period but no promises

The PB has a one year warranty to the original purchaser. It also has 90 free Tech support. I do not know how Rim deals with "quasi-tech support v. warranty"

I have the exact same issue with my PlayBook but the response I got from BlackBerry was that they couldn't do anything about it as it was no longer under warranty, it was 18 months old at the time. I don't use the camera that often but it was a convenient option to have around on days I didn't have my point and shoot.

I have the same problem, and they are a lote of people with this problem, and I have more thanks a year with my PB.

Actually my playbook hve the same issue.but I dnt think so it is a harware problem bcz my books camera is showing the same bars in front bck and movie mode.n also record or capture the bars when I record or click.plz help me out.........
