Hi! anybody know of any retail stores that might still carry a Playbook charger in stock?
Im in a crunch and need to charge my Playbook for this afternoon.
Are there any retail stores that still carry chargers for the Playbook or are they only found online now? Or is there some secret hack to charge it via USB or something?
I have a feeling that Im just out of luck :(
You're probably not going to find a PB USB charger in stores. Maybe you could find a USB phone charger. Just try to find one with a higher output. Something like 2A
Your bold charger will work better then PC but its going to take awhile. Leave it in standby and airplane mode
If you can find a CHARGE ONLY usb cable, you might be able to charge slowly from a computer usb port. AT&T has sold such cables.
Also, RIM sells the pb's charger as a Rapid Charger for their bbphones. It might be possible to find that locally labled as a bb phone charger.

So far I've found a pretty decent solution. I found an old multicharger that I bought a long time ago for $5 at Bed Bath and Beyond (Vivitar� Multi Charger - Bed Bath & Beyond).
Im using the Ebook connection on the multicharger and its charging the Playbook very slowly. It has gone from 16% to 27% in about an hour.
Trying to search the web, I _THINK_ the AT&T charge only cable is no longer available. Sounds as if you have a reasonable solution. Good luck
I dont know where you are located but I was able to purchase a playbook usb charger from the source here in Canada for about 29$

I called a few stores earlier and they either said the charger was discontinued or sold online only.
Now that I've found a decent solution, I dont think I will purchase another one (unless its heavily discounted). I thought I had my Playbook charger when I left home, but when I got to work and pulled it out of my bag, it was the wall charger for my Zune ( i rarely use) :cant-watch:. They look very similar lol

Well, it looks like Amazon is selling it for less than $10. I guess I will purchase another one! :D

Don't forget that the standard charger for the PlayBook is also the rapid charger for compatible BlackBerry devices (9700, 9800, 9900, etc) and, with an upsize adapter (from micro-USB to mini) quite a few older phones. At $10, you might want two.
i got the Rapid Charger instead. Im gonna use standard charger as a backup and for my 9930.
Had no idea it could be used as a rapid charger for the 9900. thanks!
