I have a Plantronics Backbeat Bluetooth Headset. It paired with my playbook, but then my playbook said that there were no services available. Is this an OS upgrade issue?

this is what RIM told me in an email

"Currently the PlayBook is not compatible with Bluetooth headphone profiles. While there is no current launch date this issue may be resolved in future software updates."

    This is my solution:

Amazon.com: Miccus BluBridge mini-jack: Portable, Bluetooth Music Transmitter with Swiveling connector for all (1/8-Inch) Headphones: Electronics

Don't show me stuff like this. I am a gadget freak! I didn't know they made a transmitter like this. I also discovered on Amazon they make a receiver to match. I can make my PB work with a BT headset and make my home stereo Bluetooth. Geez, now I have to order this stuff and it is not exactly cheap. Thanks!!!

I had the exact same idea, but there is an irritating limitation! (Actually two) First, the transmitter can only be paired with one item at a time. So either it talks to your BT headset or you re-pair it to talk to the receiver. Bummer. The other issue is my otherwise cool Motorola BT headset. If i pair it to the transmitter, it won't accept music from the phone, only acts like a hands free headset. I wanted to use the BT phones with either my Torch or the trans, and i wanted to use the trans either with my BT phones or the receiver. A pox on technology!

Oh, come on - just don't strangle yourself on the wires or allow anyone to hear the conversation.

I have my fingers crossed that a release fixing this will come by 8/17, I'm going to NY for a week and would love to not need wires on the plane.

Sorry about that. I would contact them for a full return including any shipping charges. Good luck.

I haven't read any news on this. I sure wish they'd add A2DP support with the OS v2 release...

It may be in OS2 and it may NOT be in OS2. Rim has given few hints about what it will ultimately contain, if it is ever released!

For some apparent reason RIM felt it not necessary to include A2DP in the initial release or the updates that have followed. I find it amazing that a tablet of this magnitude doesn't have a lot of "goodies" one would expect from something with soooo much potential. Hopefully 2.0 will have all the "goodies" and make my purchase worth while

Beta versions of OS2 appear to support it so hopefully it will be available sometime next month if OS2 launches in a timely fashion (or not!)
