Has anyone found a .bar file of the Bluefire Reader android app? This is only app that can open Adobe Digital Editions protected ebooks. I have written to Bluefire asking about a bar file version for the Playbook. This is the only way to read ADE-DRM protected library ebooks or purchases from Archambault bookstores.

Does Overdrive work for your books? It does work for loans from my public library. It is available in appworld.

No, Overdrive covers a mere 12 libraries in the Montreal area. Also, I have not been able to get it to accept an Adobe ID, so I am not sure it works with ADE protected PDF's.

I asked the Archambault book stores, and they confirmed that there is no reader compatible with the Playbook for ADE protected ebooks. In the same message, they also alluded to 'It is not for the near future'. I wonder if there is some political issue behind this?

Maybe ask on the Android App Sideloading forum.
Maybe someone could convert the apk for you?

    I have the same problem.
I'm living in Quebec city, and here, we must have BlueFire reader for android to access the public libraries or the Adobe Digital Editions (on the pc plateform).
I found the apk file on the BlueFire website (http://www.bluefirereader.com/files/BluefireReader.apk)
I tried to make a bar file from it, didn't succeed.
I was able with others apk files though.
Maybe someone will be able and post the bar file here?

Maybe you could use Aldiko? I think it works on the playbook.
