It would be nice to get some free apps for all this waitting just like rim gave when they had the bis and bes connection problems a while ago... Just saying (maybe someone at rim reads this :P)
No, its just second hand hearsay from an untrusted source.
I simply would like decent Android performance, where simple, basic apps like news readers (gReader Pro, Pulse, Taptu) run without bogging down and bringing the tablet to its knees, making me want to throw it at the wall in frustration. Sure these apps 'run' but the performance is so dismal that the Android player really isn't much of a feature IMO!

Just another huge letdown from RIM.

I agree. If you want to Playbook to run Android Apps, at least make it bug free.
I love Taptu on my Playbook, but it is so damn laggy.
*Would love to see the FB integreation w/ android apps (ex. Share Pictures within an android app)

I guess it depends.
Some android apps available in appworld are ok but still a bit buggy. In this case, RIM should be looking to fix that.
Sideloaded apps is a different story. RIM doesn't have to ensure sideloaded apps work fine.
Whats a change on the 2.1 that is so sought out after?

The change that made me what to update to Beta was the portrait mode email, contacts, and calendar. I am probably the odd guy out, but I prefer portrait mode in just about everything.
The change that I am HOPING for in the public 2.1 version is a real bookmark manager for the Browser (sorting, editing, *folders* and *subfolders* and such). I have no clue if that will happen, and I truthfully doubt that it will, but that is the change I am desperately hoping for.
It's like a flight delay due to maintenance.... you're disappointed that you have wait but you're happy they found the problem and are repairing it before you take off on an unsound aircraft.

Another delay by rimm. We do have to remember that Thor was the coo under the old regime.
I just want OS 2.1 so I can restore my backup made with 2.0.1.668 and recover the photos on it.
I was happy with 2.0.1.668, then my PB got wiped and restored to 2.0.1.358. Now I can't restore the the backup made with the newer release.
I think I you can load the beta and restore to that. I don't think a backup made on a beta can be restored to an official though so save your backup files. Depends how important your pictures are I guess.
