This is just a simple question.

Would you like RIM to offer a beta version of BB10 for the playbook, just like they did with OS 2.0 ?

I would love to test out the beta version of BB10 on my playbook. Hopefully, they will allow this on their next BlackBerry event.

From all indications OS 2.1 is testing for the PB right now.... It will be a bridge to BB10 beta... of course we will see.....

Anyone have any information regarding OS 2.1? Is that what will be released when the "Wake Up" timer finishes?

What better way to work out the bugs than pushing out betas? I mean apple does it and it would give RIM time to get it almost bug free for phones before launch.

I think that's likely. We really don't know a lot about 2.1 at this point, aside from the browser getting stellar marks on html5test.com.

I seriously doubt there will be any serious Cascades functionality in it, unfortunately, and it will likely be the last system revision before the Playbook "graduates" to BB10.

I'm kind of hoping 2.1 will have some aspects of Cascades incorporated in it, paricularly in the browser. If they can use it for the calculator and scrapbook apps then I don't see any reason why they can't use it elsewhere.

Another question I have is when BB10 finally drops on my PB will my current apps still run on it?

To me, the PlayBook feels more of the BlackBerry 10 experience. It's so far ahead of the current BB smartphone OS.

Just from looking at the early preview videos, it looks a little like the Windows Metro UI but as it evolves, I'm sure the end result for both the PlayBook and the BB 10 experience will make a huge leap forward.

It makes me happy to have my PlayBook and going to hold onto my Bold 9700 until I see the new BB 10 phones to pair up with my PlayBook.

2.1 is going to release in June but a developers beta will be released towards the end of may. 2.1 will have Android multi tasking, text message via bridge and a slew of other stuff including a completely rebuilt browser. So earliest we will see 2.1 is the end of this month in beta.

I will be happy if RIM begins announcing and delivering non-playtime applications.

Well the the build number of the os is OS: BlackBerry 10 Developer Preview V 10.0.4.197. Make no mistake 2.1 is strictly for the playbook and the alpha dev runs blackberry10

So will BB10 be somewhat based on OS2 for PB? Or will BB10 be something quite different. Or at least an OS2 on steroids?

For you snowmobilers, will BB10 be like an OS2 Sno-pro or a new chassis.

This isn't the case, per what I heard from several RIM people at BB10 Jam. The two are quite distinct branches, so if there's to be a BB10 beta for PlayBook (and the ones I talked to indicated that the decision had not even been made yet) it will likely come after 2.1 is released.

Note also that they're focusing their efforts in the Cascades area on the phones right now, which means things like landscape mode support getting limited attention for the moment. I'd expect a few months before there's a beta for PB.
