Oh man, a square-screen tablet to go with the Passport,... would be pretty sweet.

I'm working on it. These things take time. There isn't any public OS that can actually boot this tablet, so we have to figure out what exactly we have to do to get it to boot.

So it doesn't have an OS installed?

LOL! I know the feeling after my whole PB 10 experience! People are far too impatient. Take your time and report in as necessary man. One wrong move and that thing is a 10" paperweight.

I would speculate that this device has DEV Alpha C internals. The only way it would work given the nearly square resolution screen. Would be neat to compare.

Thanks for your efforts and BE CAREFUL!

It does have one -- it just does not boot.

This, so much this. If I ****ed up and flashed a retail firmware, I would be unable to flash my own firmwares (it would toggle security on), which means it would never ever boot.

I once found a Russian website that I Google translated that also mentions PB10 inch tablets have "similar" internals to DEV Alpha B, but with OS libraries from DEV Alpha C for screen.

Do you intend to dismantle it? The only sure way to ensure what hardware it has and make careful step toward a OS loading solution.

What do you mean no news?

Just curious. Have you tried loading an OS onto the 10 inch?

Loading a retail OS would most definitely flip security on (this device has security disabled, meaning I can read and write anything anywhere -- as it stands I could probably even load Android onto it, unlike normal PlayBooks) and make it impossible for me to ever get this device working. I am working with someone else to figure out the best way to ensure security is always kept disabled.

What OS is currently on the device? Or is it just blank, wiped?

Any idea what's inside, ie hardware wise?

    Thanks

Dysfunctional 2.1.0.1753 DEV. I'm pretty sure it's got an OMAP44xx in it (probably 4430 or 4470), a 64 GB NAND and 1 GB of RAM. I don't know any other details yet.

Ah, so we're talking original PlayBook in specs then. Not a lot to see in which case. Would be interesting to find out screen res I suppose.
