I got out the ol' playbook a couple months back and I'm trying to find some good uses for it. Right now I love to go on ShowBox and download some Simpsons episodes or whatever else might interest me. I have tried a few other apps but haven't found many that work on the playbook.

Any suggestions? I'd love to find live American TV apps if I could... XBMC would be great but that isn't going to happen.

I'm looking for the same thing.
TV Portal and Showbox crashes for me.
Popcorn time crashes too, I think the Android runtime build on the PB is not high enough.

    Now I'm looking for :
Tablet TV and others to test.

    Let me know your findings.

Good luck on your search, keep in mind that PB's runtime runs Android 2.3 and it's not capable of running native code but only Java.

Odd because Show Box runs great on my Playbook--the newest version even starts up a bit quicker for me. This is my MUST app. Many people using it give up too quickly because it takes longer to index the library than other devices, but wait for 1-2 minutes then play. With a good wireless connection I can watch live streaming with no lag.

It used to work great, now I even wiped my PB to get it to work.

    I have tried different versions.

I can't see the spinning wheel so it doesn't seem to be loading. Can you see it?

Hear hear. I tried the app on my phone for comparison, and it also took a long time to index. Actually, I don't see a lot of difference in Showbox performance between my phone and PB.

Another good streaming app is Crackle, though most of what you find on there is already on Showbox anyways.

Showbox works most of the time. There are times that it keep crashing. After half a day I try again and it would work again.

Mine uses 3-5 minutes on loading a movie on medium quality, when it eventually starts it lags like #$%&

Try VideoMix! This has to be side loaded as well, and works also on the PlayBook !

I love Showbox it works great. I had some trouble with streaming but I don't really care because I would rather download and watch it in the future again without having to use up my bandwidth a second time.

No--thats why many people give up on it. It is a black screen only for a minute or three--then it works.

    Good post! Thanks!
(ignoring all the haters for this one tho)
I'm personally still rocking most of the same
No new needs have come up however always looking! Need a new game!

However I'm in need of a way for files to go from playbook to from playbook to phone and back over a bridge like way instead of a wifi way. But got some good suggestions for apps I'll try!

I was staying at a Kingston University dorm last month and a salesman at an electronics store suggested ustvnow.com . He said all the students used it rather than getting cable. It worked fine from the PlayBook or my Q10.

I don't know why, but I can't convert it to a .bar file on apk2bar.org.
Can you upload the .bar files for us?

You can set it up by installing add ons.
    Try Icefilms and Navi-X.
Just download the zip files and open them in Settings - Add-ons - Install by zip.
There are other methods, I can give you some tips if it don't work.
