Can anyone share their Bell Aliant Mail POP/SMTP settings?
thanks!
Do a google search for bell alliant settings etc,you should get it ok,if you dont get a answer here immediately
Pop3
Username: [email protected]
Server address: pop.bellaliant.net
Port: 110
Use ssl: off
Smtp username: leave blank
Smtp server address: Smtp.bellaliant.net
Smtp port: 25
Smtp encryption: off
Hope this works - it did for me.
But it seems my email only comes in when I save my settings under accounts... Very odd...
Yup those are the settings I used last night but I had to leave the smpt server adress blank also. what did you use for the calendar account.
That is not working at all for me.
I get:
the server smpt.bellaliant.net is not responding. The server name in your account settings might be incorrect .............
I need a walk thru. Never had problems setting up accounts on other devices like this one.
It might be that you are using port 25, which may only work if your PlayBook is on an Aliant network. Try port 587. If that doesn't work try looking on the Bell Aliant support pages.
Thanks for the info. It is on an aliant network but I tried that Port as well. Still the same error.
After speaking to the Bell Aliant rep I got my ns.sympatico account to work on my Playbook!! and the instructions that you listed above is what I had to use. Now I can get my emails on the Playbook directly or check it through my bridged BB 9810 Torch2. I have been using Microsoft Entourage 2004 and a legacy copy of PocketMac Sync Manager to sync my calendar to the BB 9810 which shows up on the bridged calendar.
Now that I have native email figured out does anybody know how to sync the BB 9810 calendar to the Playbook native Calendar?:D
IF you are entering your server as you have it spelled here, that is probably your problem
It should be smtp not smpt as you have here.. ;)
Well..after not being able to set my account up on FB, ...I retryed this tonight with the info I used earlier with 110 and 25 ports.(like Victor66 posted) and BINGO it contacted and set up my email account to the playbook.. all is well now..
Back on my laptop I had to sync my account there and it brought all my emails that I had handled on BB PB on line there..
So it appears all is working for me.. why it wouldnt go earlier today and yesterday after several attempts to connect with this info is beyond me...
finally got it. Thanks for all the help.
I am having problems sending email to my sympatico account. I can receive email no problem on my playbook, but sending messages, I get a pop-up saying "There was an interruption in sending this message"
I can send a message to my wife's sympatico account, but to no others. I have googled the problem endlessly, have read several forum threads about not using SSL, not using an SMTP password or username, all of which I tried, to no avail.
I'm surprised this problem hasn't been figured out yet after several months.
settings: smtp server: smtp.bellaliant.net
smtp port: 25
encryption: off
Note - the smtp password keeps showing up, even though I've deleted it several times now. there is no smtp username entered.
Anyone help?
I had issues with my Bell Aliant account, but ended up deleting it, then re-entering the info (as stated in this thread) and it has worked great after that.
Nope. Just deleted old account, re-entered the info again, same problem.
"There was an interruption in sending this message. Please try again."
The only other time I had that problem, I was using free hotel wifi while on vacation.
Here is my settings:
Server: pop.bellaliant.net
Port: 110
Use SSL: Off
SMTP Username: left blank
SMTP Password: left blank
SMTP Server: smtp.bellaliant.net
SMTP Port: 25
SMTP Encryption: off
Thks - those are the same settings I am using.
And, I am trying to use this through a free wifi connection. Last week, I tried at Halifax airport, Toronto airport, hotel in vancouver, and now hotel in Victoria. No dice. I'll try it later in the week when I'm back home on my own network.
However, if it only works at home - then this email feature will be totally useless to me.
It must an issue with BellAliant's servers and free wifi. Another option would be Gmail or Bellaliant's Web mail while traveling.
