How is the first generation Playbook going to be able to handle BB10? Will the new OS require more processor power? Will run smoothly or will it be like having a new version of Windows on an old computer?

My thoughts are that it should run faster using Cascades versus the Adobe Air apps that we have on the current playbook.
If you've downloaded Scrapbook for the PB .. its written in Cascades.. if you haven't installed it .. do so and try it out. You'll get an idea of how quick apps can run using BB10.
Scrapbook is very snappy and runs at a smooth 60fps (max on lcd screen).
I recently got my hands on ID Software Quake 3 demo and that runs 60 frames per second. I'm extremely impressed that a game which had required fairly high cpu/gpu power to run on a pc in high detail/rez runs so damn smooth on my current playbook hardware and software.
Just my thoughts...:D
So the core speed will not change because it is in QNX? Is that what you are saying?
Or are you saying the UI is going to remain fast because it is developed using Cascade?
It has to run better because bb10 is a faster and more powereful os then the current qnx 2.0 right?
Yes that's what I'm saying. Cascades makes real good use of the real-time QNX OS.
Cascades is a very efficient 3D graphics fast rendering physics optimized computer language. It has taken RIM a good while to develop the toolkits for Cacades
To get an idea of how fast and fluid Cascade apps will run on the playbook.. check out the vids below (if you haven't already done so - and these vids are pretty old):

It's no wonder why RIM bought TAT (The Astonishing Tribe) the developers of Cascades
Also, Pacemaker is another app in app world was created using Cascades:

RIM could have released a phone by now based on the playbook OS running QNX.. but they've waiting to release a platform that's goin to be way way better.
all i know is bb10+playbook=awsomeness!!
Sent from da BOLD or maybe mi PlayBook
