Battery icon showed 0%
Start off by saying I do have 668 update.
Fell asleep while using PlayBook. Woke up to a clicking sound. Notice that the PlayBook was on. The video and browser apps were both open, so I could see the battery icon. It was red, flashing, showing 0% and saying something like needs charging now. In a panic, I plugged the charger in and it started charging.
Is this normal? You read in the forums about letting the battery go to 0% and then having a hard time charging.

It will shut down after a while. I have had no trouble charging after auto-shutdown. I don't leave it in that discharged state very long though.
-
Mine's got to that stage a few times too - no adverse affects as far as I can see so far. (Also on 668)
-
I don't let them go below 10% I charge before that.

I'm thinking with Chaddface that as long as it doesn't sit for days after dying before a person tries to charge it'll be fine.

As others have noted, ZERO does not always cause problems. As part of a test of my 32gig pb, rim had me purposely force it to Zero and turn off TWICE. Both times it recharged without issue.
I'm not sure why some pb's do have issues that require Stack Charging.

Happened to me once too (not updated to. 668). Maybe the Playbook may have some reserve power @ zero to let users finish what they are doing.

Hawnz, note also that the % indicator is just an approximation, an estimate produced by the OS. The thing that actually matters is the battery voltage. Once the OS sees that drop to approximately 3.4V for very long, it will do a controlled shutdown to protect the battery.
Your PlayBook may actually have been a good half hour away from that point still, or less or more. It's certainly "normal" for it to get to 0% and show those warnings, however, when you drain it down that far.
