    What is an RMA?
Some form of return mechandise authorization or similar. It is what rim approves in order for you to send it back. They may fix yours, replace with a new unit or with a refurbished unit - most likely a new unit.

The PB has a one year warranty to the original purchaser. It also has 90 free Tech support. I do not know how Rim deals with "quasi-tech support v. warranty"

I unplugged my fully charged PB at 10 am. At 2 pm it was down to 60%. Wifi is on and it was on Standby most of that time. Checked email a couple of times, went online briefly. That was about it.
That sounds like a high drain. How much backlighting do you leave on? What native email? Manual or some timed-interval sync? What else was running? Any Android apps?

I really can't remember but there was an android app (was it a mapping app????) that still was doing something even after it was not showing. I think it may have even kept drawing when Deleted by Press/Hold on the main screen. Or I've imagined it all!

Just got off of the phone with Blackberrry (1 hour...ugh) and they are shipping me a box so that I can send the playbook to them for repair under warranty. Looks like this problem isn't solvable by hard resets or reinstalling the OS.

Similar issue but worse...Since I updated I get 70% drain after 8h in standby with wifi off! 17% drain after 8h while shut down! And battery guru states my battery is ok and with 91% health... Here's another thread on 2.1.0.840 battery woes...

I think I'll need tp contact RIM about a warranty. Even though I got the device on eBay it was sealed and never used. I'm the original owner who activated it. It's an import though (US version... I live in Portugal).

PS: Today I've been getting a feeling that the PB is short-circuiting. While connected to the pc with the bundled usb cable, whenever my forearm (but not my hands) would rub against the metallic contour (right next to the thin rubber band that encircles the screen) it feels electrified (only while the device is connected to the pc but not to the power outlet... and with bare feet touching the ground... sounds crazy I know). Anyone thinks the usb connector got damaged with the use? Need to access another cable to check if it's on the device or cable end (I'm hoping it's the cable).

The PB power button seems to stand less from the device body (a lot less than the rest of the hw buttons) and seems to have lost the "pop-up when released" some months ago but only after the update did I start getting battery life issues...

Good questions. Backlighting shouldn't matter since it was on standby most of the time and thus blanked out. I have four emails active, one google, two pop (one hour sync intervals) and one hotmail. Gmail and hotmail show 'manual' sync interval but it's greyed out, whatever that means. I have half a dozen or so Android apps, including Osmand, none running. No programs were active except, I guess, the email though the Messages app was not launched. And I have the latest non-beta update.

So today I receive the playbook after shipping it to them to be repaired...and the power button is broken! It is completely flush with the top of the playbook, making so that you need to poke it with a pen to turn it on.

That's it, I'm done. I'm asking for a refund. No wonder RIM is in a downward spiral.
