Is anyone else getting terrible battery life after the most recent update? My battery life is now less than 12 hours even when the thing is in low use mode.

It only did this after the most recent update. Anyone have suggestions? Sure making me look at nice Android tablets carefully...

Same here. It doesn't hold for long-1 day maximum.

What is low use mode and are you using the tablet for most of the rwelve hours?

First couple of days, battery life is always worse . Don't worry about it.

^^^ Goes for leaks, don't know about official updates.

Have you just updated as well? And are you actually using it? Or just leaving it in standby?

I've been using it at night playing games like reaper. I'm not seeing any difference in battery life. Would take more to gauge if there's any difference.

Your either lucky or he's unlucky :P. Is it an official update? Or leak? I don't own a PV so I don't keep myself updated with them.

I leave it on standby and it will drain to nothing from well past 50% overnight.

I installed the official playbook update. I also have had pdf files open when I drop it into standby mode. It used to be fine for days now it's dead in hours.

You can install Advanced App Manager from BB World. It can help you check when you go into standby to see if any of those Android port apps continue to run. You can also go into airplane mode before going into standby to try to keep notifications or polling by some app from chewing up the battery, Finally Battery Guru can help by giving near real time values for power consumption and a record of power consumption in standby.

Mine in Standby seems fine - went from a bit over 80% to 76% in the 10 hours immediately displayed by Battery Guru.

Could be bad timing with update and possible battery failure happening at the same time

The only times where I had massive battery drain while in standby was when the PlayBook couldn't log into a wifi site. The wifi site was open, but required using a browser to agree to usage terms (which took clicking on "Yes"). The wifi site was a saved network, so when the PlayBook got close, it automatically connected, but couldn't complete the connection.

Try switching showcase off in settings/general to the lowest setting. At least then youll know if it's the open pdf app draining the battery...

Yes, I have the same issue but mine started just before update so that rules out the update. I suspect it is the battery life starting to deplete.

I have noticed no difference in my battery life when in standby (or at any other time) since the update. As per other suggestions, try a hard-reset, and make sure all apps are closed and WiFi and Bluetooth is turned off, then see if any improvement.

Failing that, you could try removing any side-loaded Apps you might have recently added, and if that doesn't help, you might have to resort to a backup/security wipe/restore. If that doesn't cure it, then I guess you have a battery/hardware issue...

The update seems to be the problem. My 64g has normal battery endurance. Since the update my 16g barely lasts a day. However, I am so glad to have Bridge Presenter improved I will gladly take it.

No difference here. After the upgrade are the mail accounts still set up to push and is the wifi connected? Manual mail sync and searching for wifi can kill standby battery. Try deleting all message accounts and turn on aircraft mode and see what happens overnight.

I echo the suggestion about Advanced App Manager. I've found that after an update or even loading a new app (especially a sideloaded one), sometimes an app is remaining open and downloading content, etc. The only way I knew was by checking AAM where I found it active. Shutting down the running app fixed the problem.

Still have probs install in again with compleet wipe - security wipe with full battery and let the power on. After this it will take 2-3 days to get battery back in normale specs.

After reading this thread, I installed AAM and saw there were a few side loaded apps running. I believe this is my problem. Just wondering is this app safe with giving it Internet access? I'm just one of those paranoid giving Android apps permissions.
