I'm currently at a Starbucks but not using their WiFi on my PB, am using bluetooth from my 9900's H+. Everything works great except when I go to AppWorld to update an app it says cannot connect because there is no WiFi connection. So does Bridge not qualify as a valid connection for using AppWorld (I know it is bt and not WiFi but I thought the point is to share an Internet connection). FWIW I can browse the Web and get emails with no problem. Thanks.

AppWorld does not work with bridge, only with WiFi (and maybe tether) as the message indicated.

They don't want people downloading 500+ MB files via carriers with Bridge. Although th PlayBook 4G let's you access it over the mobile network connection

Then, why not just set a limit to how big of an application you can download via bridge? If you have the hotspot, can you access appworld?

The interesting part is that in the top-left corner of the screen the notification is there that there's an update for the app in question...that's how I knew to download the update. So it does detect something in AppWorld but does not allow you to actually log in. Bizarre if you ask me. And why should they care if you want to use your BB's data plan to download? That shouldn't matter to them.

That would be a very interesting experiment. Will try it and see what happens.

BTW, unrelated to this thread but a comment nonetheless, I watched the HD demo video that came with the device and I must say the screen is absolutely gorgeous ...I personally think the iPad has nothing on the PB when it comes to that and camera quality.

Yeah, I think the reason for it is that all carriers start complaining to RIM because most people are on unlimited BIS data plans. I know in South Africa two of our largest carriers began throttling speeds and complaining to RIM that they don't have the capacity to support every individual downloading 100 gigs a month for minimal BIS monthly fees.

I am able to access app world via the hotspot on my friends 9900, but the hotspot is not part of my BIS package and means I have to pay for out of bundle data.

Almost any appworld item is going to be in the 1-10 MB range in size.
