I'm looking for those android converted apps which can extract .rar files. I think, this is the only negative point about 'files and folders' native app. Anyway, if anybody has one, do share it. I've been desperately looking for it since day one. Ever since, i purchased my playbook.....

Thanks! I already have it. But it is very slow in extracting the files. That is why, i refered to Android apps. Is there an app to your knowledge that gets the job done?

ES File Explorer can extract rar files. It needs to be sideloaded.

What I can tell is, there is no 'native' unrar bundle within the PB underlying unix (which you can check by installing a local console and trying the associated command), so any 'simple wrapper' application would not work. Thus I'l quite sceptical on 'free android ports' that for mot of them will be just that...

You guys can get the latest version of 'ES file Explorer' from here. Then you need to sideload it.
ES File Explorer File Manager v1.6.2.4.bar
    FF22 and Gikes like this.

Thanks for the link. I just had trouble finding the version I have installed. Well, the app shows its version, but Chrome's App Manager did not show a clear name that matches the app and the version number is quite different than the internal version number.

It shows up in Chrome as:

    com.estrongs.android.pop Version 1.0.91.0

Whereas the app shows Version 1.6.1.3 (Market)

Maybe that "Market" denotes a separate version

Exactly, Chrome shows it by a different name. pay no attention to what Chrome shows. App version (in the link) is 1.6.2.4 . After converting from .apk to .bar, file name of some apps changes. For instance, i tried sideloading android dolphin HD 8.8.2. Downloaded the apk file and converted it to .bar using 'apk2bar'. Now, the name changed to something like this - 'com.tunnybrowser.1.0.06......bar'. So app version is 1.6.2.4 , not 1.0.9. Also, v1.6.2.4 is the latest, according to Google Play..
