When I opened App World on my Playbook LTE today I got a message about an update. I said okay, and app world has been in this state for a while now. What's up?

BlackBerry World is only updated vis PlayBook OS updates. Not the app itself.

You obviously haven't updated your OS if it's still called App World, it's been BlackBerry World for a while

Actually, I've attempted to update numerous times. My playbook says that 2.0.1.668 is the latest.

Do you have an LTE playbook - that's the one that can connect to a cellular network for faster browsing and email retrieval. The "normal" Playbook most have is the wifi model. For the normal wifi pb, you can check for updates using the pb. Swipe down in the main home screen. Tap the Gear, on the left, look for the Software Update option and tap it. Then tap the button inside that screen.

From what I've read, the updates for lte pb's are from the Carrier. I am not sure if you remove the sim card, if it can update over wifi. I _THINK_ I've read that folks have used another carrier's sim card to update the OS.

Where did you acquire an lte pb without using a carrier?

Okay now things are looking pretty cool actually, obviously you'll notice the icons at the top and yes they scroll back and forth and we also have this "recently updated" section that was not there before hmmmm...Ive also never seen it say "top purchased"

That's actually how Tablet OS 1.0.x had it'd BlackBerry App World themed.

OS1 had a different color scheme also OS1 didn't have many of the apps shown above like Laura Croft and PaceMaker for example.

Exact same issue here. I connect over WiFi...and I have the latest OS. Rebooted many times. App World remains seized in that rainbow vomit graphic. This blows.

Don't forget that the next thing to get shut down will be Appworld for the Playbook since no revenue is being generated from Playbook sales. It costs more in salaries for them to babysit the service for applications that are no longer being updated exclusively for the Playbook. Get used to the spinning green circle pretty soon folks.

I have the same problem but I'm using a regular 32gb PB... not LTE.

For about a week, I've been receiving a prompt to update my App World. If I don't update, App World closes automatically so I can't use it at all. Finally today, I decided to accept the update prompt and I'm immediately connected to App World. Everything looked normal but as soon as I tapped on one of the featured apps on the splash page, App World instantly closes. I reopen App World and I see the exact screen that TC posted. Can anyone help?
