Re: App store credibility
I have also noticed that the rating number does not actually reflect the numbers given in the reviews. I reviewed an app yesterday that I only tried because it had a 4.5+. After I tried it and it was terrible, I went through all of the reviews and did the math twice and came up with 3.66.
The App World is terrible. I don't have a lot of faith that it will improve much after BB10. BTW, I love my tablet (I loathe the name "Playbook") and am foaming at the mouth to buy a BB10 phone before RIM collapses. My enthusiasm for their hardware is a totally different thing than my lack of enthusiasm for the software end of things.
Re: App store credibility
You forgot the fact that that the developer can delete legitimate reviews at the discretion. This has been done to me several times because I said something true, but not positive, about the app. It was totally factual and had no bad language. There is no way to trust the reviews since the only ones left alone are only the positive ones. Apple World reviews are all joke. They have zero credibility for me... Don't even look or read them. I feel any purchase is a total leap of faith. And it hasn't changed in over a year and a half. The only change has been cosmetic. Save your breath. RIM has no commitment to PB. They are betting the farm on BB10 and their new phones. What a shame to (over)paying customers

On top of that, we don't know what kind of mean is being used.
But if you do want to make good on your suggestions, sign up for Beta Zone and post them where RIM and Appworld devs can see!
