Is there a third party application that allows me to take pictures or a video at night using my playbook (version 2.1 Build 1526)? I have installed Advanced Camera (which I love), but I don't believe it provides me with the ability to use it at night.

I am not aware of any apps that would help in low light situations. Pics get very grainy if the lighting is too low. I guess one way would be to use the front (screen side) facing camera in some fashion where the SCREEN'S LIGHT is used to light a scene not too far way.

Carry a flashlight and shine it in the direction of interest. Then take a picture.

Using just the Playbook would seem limited to only your front camera as F2 suggested.

Make a picture or screenshot of a bright white background. Keep it open then open your Camera app. With the front camera start your Video recording and then swipe the bright white picture to active screen. Anything shot close range should be lit well enough. When done swipe back to the Camera and stop recording then see how it's turned out.

For a single picture, click and then quickly swipe to make the white screen active. The slight delay before the picture gets taken will allow this.

No "application, it would have to be a hardware mod.

Remove back of case. Install a set of LEDs, or LED off a Samsung Galaxy, along with a controller circuit, and or switch that pulls juice directly off the battery.

And or carry around a "Light Bar" which you.

    Hmm don't leave too quickly.

If you have a phone with a flash led, turn it on like a flashlight. Hold the phone to the back of your PlayBook but away from the camera lens. Take night time pictures to your hearts content or until either device battery runs out.

Definitely worth a giggle. But not software Flash, but rather the photo flash led many phones have. In my incomplete instructions you are using the phone's photo flash led in flashlight mode to provide a light source to take pictures when the PlayBook in low light conditions.

But yes the PlayBook's web browser does support Adobe Flash.

Not only it has flash, all your picture taken have checkered board background.

I think Advanced Camera is working on this. At the end of the user manual there is mention of a possible ISO mod that would help in low light.

I like the idea of using a 4wd truck with a mongo light bar pointed at the subject. Subtle but effective.

Could use a flare or burning torch (as used in all the scariest movies) What do you just after they sputter and die, leaving you in darkness? When you reach for the matches just hope a hairy and clawed hand doesn't pass them to you

I watched the Blair Witch movie and didn't find it the least bit scary

Love my PlayBook camera apart from the low light issue for indoor shots.
Notice that the Advanced Camera app now has a `Low Light` setting advertised. How well does this work in practice?
    Thank you.
