If you leave it for extended period of time the backup battery also get drained. You will need to plug in the charger it came with, you will see the led led light up. That is how long it is being charged for when you do this. Unplug and repeat for about 20-30 times. it will eventually come up and charge normally.

When storing it for long periods of time, it's best to charge it to 40% to prolong the battery life as well (better than leaving it flat or fully charged).

Daily on my hour train commute to watch whatever TV series I'm on.!!

But with the lack of netflix/Prime and the increasingly sketchy torrent downloading site...i'll probably have to give it up for an Amazon Fire HD

Still using my 64GB after all these years, mainly as an E-Reader using Overdrive to access my local public library. Battery not holding its charge as it used to is slowly pushing me towards a new tablet. Still undecided on what that will be, though the Tab S2 is looking good but with the rumor of a new version arriving at the end of February, that might change.

One other thing that is bothering me with my PlayBook is the sometimes lack of response to orientation changes. Seems to get stuck in either landscape or portrait mode and doesn't recognize when I change it without shaking or tapping it on the table. Sensor getting old? If it ever really stops working, that will be the end of the line for this Playbook.

My site that I used to stream UFC events is no longer functional on the PlayBook. That kills a lot of its use for me. I still use it as a sort of chromecast hooked up to my TV that I stream videos from my Passport to. Got a dual boot Windows/Android tablet on the way but I'll probably still keep the PlayBook hooked up.

Connect the Passport to Playbook via Bridge.

Download an android movie streaming APK to your Passport. Such as Movie HD, HD Cinema, Cartoon HD, Shoebox etc.

Within that android app, choose to open the movie in the native file viewer.

Click share, and choose Open On Playbook.

The movie will then open up in the Playbook browser with a very long Web address but it will play perfectly.

You can do this with basically any video that you can get to play in the native file viewer. Tubemate is a great app for this. You can stream most vids from youtube or anywhere on the Web. Tubemate has a built in browser that is a bit of a pain but once you get used to it, it's great.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Playbook still works perfectly nicely as a spreadsheet viewer at work and for light Internet browsing (pretty useless for videos now, at least in its own right). I'm on my second - lost the first one a few years back - and this one has a cracked screen that I am kinda bummed about, but can't quite bring myself to buy another. Battery life is still good on this one.

I still have several uses for my PlayBook.

    1) Work out videos (2 hours)

During business travels, I stay fit doing some exercises in the hotel rooms.
Even at home I prefer to play these videos on the PlayBook, it's so handy.

    2) Games

I don't play very often, but sometimes I need to kill some time during long distance flights.
There are a lots of games available.

    3) Income calculator app

This is a great app to estimate a rough budget for the whole year.
(I actually use Excel to track our precise household expenses, but still love this app for rough estimates)

    4) Pencil Camera HD in combination with Scrapbook

Just a great alternative way to keep some nice holiday memories.
I always want to combine it with Groovy Notes or A Day in Life ... but not enough time.

    5) Art Frame

While it's sitting on the dock station in the living room

    6) Browsing news websites with Origami

I want read the news every day, and Origami browser is still good enough for that.

    7) Checking e-mails and calendar on my MS Exchange account

    8) Calculator and Accuweather apps

    9) Movies and music

The PlayBook has great speakers, love the sound, I always have some music and 1-2 movies on it (only used during traveling).

    10) There are some other great apps, but I simply don't have the time to use them.

I had my 16GB playbook delivered three days ago, I configured it and it works flawlessly, except for emails, It seems they only can be received through a WiFi connection, when I try to get them via bluetooth pairing, the server doesn't connect. I'm kindly asking What to do, I had it paired to a Z30. I read some 2014 threads explaining that BlackBerry bridge works partially with a BlackBerry 10 device. Is it true? I went on a post displaying a window allowing to exchange emails as well, but I can't find it on the app (version 3.sth). If anybody can provide some help, it would be really appreciated. In any case, I can view all my documents, pictures and files stored in the phone in the tablet, too.

    From my awesome Z30
It's been a while since having full features of the bridge app since support was dropped. Now within the bridge folder there is only access to BBM or text messages from the attached phone. I have a live.com email account on my PlayBook which I am able to send and receive emails via bridge or wifi. This may be different depending on the carrier or email program used. I think back when I had a yahoo account it stopped working. I don't use the PlayBook much for email as I have my main accounts on another device. But when I decide to use the bridge it's nice for viewing documents from the phone or using the live email account. I will try one of my other accounts and see if I can access when bridged. One thing I did notice when first sending an email over bridge it showed a red box like it failed but then sent.

I have a total of 5 play books of which I keep 2 fully charged at all times. I still find uses for it, even surfing the Web. The sound is fantastic. I will download podcasts from websites and listen to them during my morning exercises. The sound quality is superior to my ipad and the dimensions for handling is the best.

Can someone tell me a program I can use that I can draw with, I am talking about stick figures in a whole variety of colours. I need to save them onto my PlayBook and see a thumbnail preview before opening.

Also, for my other three playbooks can I use a different operating system on them like Android? If yes, please give me a link.

I still rate my PlayBook very high. I wish BlackBerry would go through and delete the apps that do not work or give that task to someone that still cares for the platform.

At least three hours a day, still useful for email, web, kindle books, games. Has some use as a media player, works fine so why buy an android or any other for that matter. Do not expect desktop performance from it so I am not as disappointed with it as I was when then ran away from their bad decision making process at RIM. But I will not get into that rant again.

i'm still using this bad@ss tablet for presentation to my clients,
it's funny to see some of my client's faces, for knowing the Blackberry once ever release a tablet...
they even didn't know about this device.

i can plug in to projector with HDMI adapter, grab thing directly some file on my PCs in my office (in same LAN group), streaming video stored on NAS, i even can remote my PCs, trough playbook smoothly, sometime i made cruel messing my office matte's PCs for remoting their PCs just using this tablet.

Fun but absolutely dissappointed with blackberry, for throw this tablet out from their roadmap.

now it's just LEGACY some of nice devices that BB ever made.
