    Since the update I have discovered that my sound keeps disappearing. I noticed it last week when Nobex radio didn't seem to work. Checked all the volume, closed and re-opened it, no luck. Opened media player and tried to play a MP3, it didn't start playing. A reboot fixed all the problems, but it has happened to me twice last week and my mother has just emailed in a panic as her sound wasn't working.

    Has anyone else experienced this or know what might be going on? I don't want to have to keep rebooting everytime I notice the sound has gone, especially since I have missed a video chat yesterday because of the lack of sound alerting me on the playbook.

    I had a no sound problem that happened sometime around the update. The counter on the music player and slacker wouldn't move either. I reloaded the OS.

    same thing happen here. once, but it was king of weird I event tried playing a video and it just had a blackscreen a restart helped, but apparently it migth happen again xs

    After seeing this I tried Nobex and the sound was fine. No issues at least with my playbook.

    I've had occasional issues since the last update using VEVO or youtube. Reboot cured it each time.

    I found that, if I mute through PB, the sound will not come back until I reboot.

    I have the same problem with Nobex and the PB video player. After the last update they just don't work. I reinstalled. Nobex, cleared cacbe, turned off and on the wifi, did three hard resets, to no avail. I don't want to reinstall everything for these two issues only.
    Any other suggestion?

    After the latest update my BlackBerry PlayBook continues to produce very good sound quality and video playback is exceptionally smooth as well. I have noticed a marked decrease in battery life since updating to v2.1; maybe this update will address that issue. Fingers crossed.

    It doesn't appear to have helped with the battery drain on mine. I agree though, since the 2.1 update the battery does drain faster....on both my wife's and mine. I never was a believer that the software updates caused battery drain. But hello! I am now....

    Occasionally my PlayBook will lose all sound and will require a reboot to get it back. It seems to be worse with the latest .1088 OS. Before, I could just adjust the volume up and down to get my sound back... now... reboot. This bug has been around since 1.0.... and occurs on both my 64GB and my wife's 16GB PlayBook.

    I would guess you have restarted?

    To fix an issue, try these in order:

    Restart using the Battery Icon and press Restart

    Press and hold the Power button for 10-15 seconds. Then leave it for 20-30 seconds and see if it restarts.

    To REBOOT:
    Press and HOLD all three keys for about 10 - 20 seconds: PowerOn, VolUp and VolDown. Start with the PowerButton. Keep holding past the 3-choice options screen. If you hear a shutter type sound, you've taken a Screen Shot and probably missed the PowerButton.

    Plug in and remove a headphone to see if the mechanical connection in the headphone port might have an issue.

    The PB has a one year warranty to the original purchaser. It also has 90 free Tech support. I do not know how Rim deals with "quasi-tech support v. warranty"
