When it was announced that there would be no update to bb10 for the PlayBook, the CEO I indicated they were doing some hard thinking about some sort of incentives for loyal PlayBook users. Any word on this? Incentive for A10? Or more of the same- lip service and no more?

If and when something is announced, I'm sure you'll see it on the front page of CrackBerry. Funny you're asking if there's an incentive on the A10 when the A10 hasn't even been announced yet

BBWorld credit is useless! There aren't that many useful apps (respect to the devs, but its the truth). I bought my PB for more than $600+ on the first day it was released!

So what's your point? I spent 15,000.00 on my Dodge Neon the first day it was released too! That doesn't mean that I expect Dodge to give me a 15,000.00 credit because they didn't issue a recall on the head gasket! You receive two years of use out of a product that REALISTICALLY has a life expectancy of 2-3 years. I do not think BlackBerry owes us (yes I bought a playbook on launch day as well) anything.

Did they promise a recall and then retract it? Please use comparable that actually make sense.

I don't expect them to do anything (even though they said they're considering it).

An incentive for the A10 would be cool though. Maybe we could provide our PlayBook's serial number and PIN and get some Visa gift card.

I'm not excited about the A10 considering the specs it has, but if it were heavily discounted because BlackBerry miraculously gave us some kind of incentive, I might buy it.

Apple did some recall on the 2005-2006 iPod nano in 2011.
The reason is because of the battery. And they did that long after the warranty has ended.
For PlayBook, the case is different. At least they could throw $50 BlackBerry World credits based on PlayBook's serial number attached to the BBID.

I am really disappointed . I too bought thePlaybook at launching price.
I recognize it is still much better in most fields than the Ipad, but the lack of support by Blackberry has killed it.

While I this could have been true it was not because BlackBerry effectively released and left a bunch of people with a Beta product. The least they could do is update a few parts of it. As much as Thor didn't want to do this (at least any normal human wouldn't want his company to fail to deliver) I still think that BB10 app compatibility could have been brought over, or android app player, or even bridge, or browser. I don't believe that they simply couldn't do anything. I bought it assuming it would be supported a long time as BlackBerry phones have traditionally been and THE WHOLE time the message was that the PlayBook was going to be updated. We barely got what we were promised in 2.1 and then they tell us that 10.0 will never show up. This isn't just about no BB10, this is about what the company has done. I don't care if Thor inherited it, he is the ceo, he should be doing something to give the company a good image. Honestly no one spends cash in the PlayBook app store because it's a dead end. It's a short lived investment. I think a lot of people assumed those purchases would transfer... that's another story.

If you bought on day one like myself we are owed nothing as there was no promise at the time of BB10 for our PB's when we purchased it. For the poor buyers that bought after Thor said BB10 would be coming to PB, multiple times at that, they have a beef and are owed something.

Let's not forget the demographic that bought the Z10 on the promise of a unified ecosystem, already owning PlayBooks (whether they bought the PlayBook believing it would get the upgrade is immaterial.)

Never mind that anyone who 'upgrades' from BBOS loses most of Bridge (because, of course, most of what Bridge did was give a touchscreen, albeit bigger. So why would you need Bridge?)

They can keep their phablet. The vision of one device only is looking through rose-coloured glasses. Phablets/tablets don't fit in pockets, and I can't read for long on most phones (web browsing is almost a joke! pinch-zoom, pinch-zoom, can you click that radio button there with your big fat finger?) So, I'll be two (or three) devices for some time to come. And BB will still be struggling to define (or find) their vision of "mobile computing".
