- When my Playbook takes 60 seconds to boot instead of 50 seconds, I know it's time for an update to be released.04-04-12 06:48 AMLike 0

- This playbook needs to be able to communicate and share with everything else out there, if you make a video you should be able to share it with anyone from email to WhatsApp to uploading it to youtube.
if you have a film on your home network you should be able to stream it without using clumbsy software and browser to get round it ( ORB ).
And lets get a native PlayBook Messenger BPM Blackberry Playbook messenger that you can send messages to Blackberry and non blackberry stuff like MSN messenger, IOS messenger, Android Messenger etc etc.
As it stands i love my playbook it is fast has amazing sound, picture quality and brilliant hardware but is let down by the Software, My poor Playbook is isolated from my Android Phone, my ipod touch 4 and my PC's where as i can send and receive pics, videos and files to any of my devices apart from the blackberry unless i Email it which is just ridiculous.
Its like RIM have never picked up an Android device or iPad before, get the best features from all these tablets and kick arse ffs.
im hoping the next major update integrates the PlayBook out of the 1990s and into 2012.kbz1960 and ambarmetta like this.04-04-12 08:52 AMLike 2 - This playbook needs to be able to communicate and share with everything else out there, if you make a video you should be able to share it with anyone from email to WhatsApp to uploading it to youtube.

The whole super app concept is exactly what you mentioned above. It will certainly come to the PlayBook and BB10 phones, but it just isn't ready yet. It's frustrating I know, but the choice was to either delay the PlayBook for a VERY long time (still wouldn't be out yet) or release it early with features missing. I for one am VERY happy they released it early.
Ahhh right so its just a case of waiting a bit and all the features will be released at some point ?
i can handle that, i thought that this was it, this is why i was disappointed, im also a little concerned that they (RIM) will release an updated Playbook and then the original playbook will be left to rot
EDIT: oh and thanks to chrisrobinfollett im now streaming my films across my newwork in glorious HD. Thank you04-04-12 10:01 AMLike 0 - RIM Execs certainly spouted off about DLNA prior to the launch of the PlayBook - it was one of the things that really piqued my interest (after having had positive streaming experiences using a borrowed iPad)
Then again, RIM Execs also spouted off about Skype.....04-04-12 10:08 AMLike 0 - 04-04-12 10:09 AMLike 1

Also, don't expect the current PlayBook to be abandoned by RIM. It was said that it will be updated to BB10 which is the end game OS. PBOS is the middle ground before BB10 comes out. Hopefully BB10 will have most of the Super App features you originally mentioned, but if it doesn't, rest assured that RIM does highly prioritize those features.04-04-12 10:24 AMLike 4 - Under the hood stuff like disabling sideloading? RIM isn't too happy about the sideloading and now that they officially made rooting a warranty buster then i wouldn't be surprised if they made an update to prevent sideloaded apps from being functional. On the other hand maybe they'll make them more functional like medscape and other android apps that need to download updates to work. We'll see i guess...04-04-12 11:41 AMLike 0

By the way, Medscape apparently works, I haven't actually had the time to wait and try it but according to playbookbars.com it does workadriank403 likes this.04-04-12 11:58 AMLike 1 - Thanks Goku_vegeta, will check it out to see if it'll work.
You do have a point though, I remember reading an article on Crackberry where someone interviewing a RIM spokesperson was asked about sideloading and apparently they just made some facial expression and didn't really comment. I guess that could just mean that we should enjoy the sideloading as a bonus. I agree with you that they shouldn't deter developers and users by removing that functionality.
It is a potential security breech for people using the Playbook with sensitive information on it. We all know about Android OS's potential security issues. I suppose I still don't fully understand to what extent the android runtime interacts with PIM.
