After this I now know it is Amazon and not the flash on the blackberry playbook. I was a little suspicious given that it plays fine for a short time and then bails out.

My position on this Amazon Instant Streaming fiasco.

It is absolutely pathetic that Amazon representatives have the guts to notify customers that their service is not compatible with ANY device. It's not about what device you have it is the software on the device. Amazon Instant Streaming uses Flash, the PlayBook does a fine job of using Flash. It is absolutely pathetic that Amazon beieves their customers are ignorant to that fact. I will do further research on this matter so when I contact a customer representative there will be as I move up their customer support line.

I just told amazon to cancel my prime since I cannot stream on my Playbook. Go figure I won a Kindle in company Christmas party, but canceled on principle.

I've been in touch with Amazon about the streaming problems and have told a few different reps that I'm using a blackberry playbook. Not a single rep has told me that it is not a supported device. One rep even gave me a two dollar credit so that I can purchase an episode of a TV show to see if it would work after purchasing the episode.

I'm sorry to hear that you are still unable to view the Amazon Instant videos on your Blackberry.

We'll have to look into the problem with watching the videos on the Blackberry device a little more deeply. I've contacted our technical specialists who should be able to provide further guidance.
'm sorry to hear about the difficulty you've experienced watching your Amazon Instant Video.

I've issued a promotional credit of $2.00 to your account. Please purchase this episode and try watching it on your device. If you see any error, please turn off all power to your device, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on.
I plan on continuing to harass support until it is supported and works on the PB.

I opened a live chat tonight with Amazon. Until today, I haven't had any issues. They are supposed to email me? We shall see.... Not pleased, that I spent the $ for Prime and now I am unable to access it.

I was sent an email on this matter and received a response stating that I needed to load the appropriate windows player. they stated for security reasons videos are licensed by Microsoft. I don't think this is possible on a PlayBook. So much for amazon.

Update. They sent me an email stating the PlayBook is not supported. The kicker is the stated the only mobile device supported was a kindle. They immediately refunded my money for prime membership. Sounds like everyone is trying to lock in their piece of the pie. To bad, I liked amazon.

    That just stinks.

It was one of the drivers for me to get Amazon Prime. Luckily I can use it for the 2 day shipping and use it at home through my Blu-Ray player, but this is very disappointing.

Why does everyone hate the Playbook?

This is messed up. Worked for a long time, then stopped. I canceled my Prime subscription. Then, it worked for a month or so, bought a new subscription. Just tried it today and...... Doesn't Work again!!!!! WTF????

You can drop the paranoia and the persecution complex. Many Android tablet browsers (including Google's own) have the same problem, or variants of it. The underlying issue is that there have been front and back end Flash updates that broken the service on unsupported browsers, plus the fact that the movies, etc. are media for which there are protected rights. No one is picking on the poor little Playbook. At least with Android though, Flash is an add in, rather than something baked into the OS. Maybe RIM shouldn't have promised the full web experience on a mobile device without first getting the major players on board....

I thought I'd come back to this thread and report my findings now that the 2.0.1.668 update has dropped. The streaming issues I had with some of the Amazon Prime Instant Videos offerings seem to have vanished. The problematic shows no longer halt at the 20 second mark and tell me to update my flash player, because 2.0.1.668 updated the flash player. *hooray*

I've had problems streaming too, starting this past weekend. At first it was Star Trek Voyager on Amazon, then most everything on Amazon. Tonight I discovered Crackle.com no longer streams at all on my PB. Everything streamed fine on Thursday night.
    !
Interesting, I was streaming an episode of the same series last night after the little OS update and had no issues. None before too. I'm guessing there are some problems on Amazon end. They are still pretty new to the streaming game and why they use Flash and not HTML5 is beyond me.
