Alternative to android player?
Okay, so while it looks like we've been well and truly RIM'd over BB10 (which I would even go as far as to say RIM intentionally talked up BB10 on the PB in order to sell units) we have to look at what is available to we Blackberry untermensch.
We all want to see more android compatibility but this has been slow coming. V-e-r-r-r-r-y s-l-o-o-o-o-o-w. But what if there were an alternative to the PB OS android player...
There is an android emulator available for pc and mac called Bluestacks. It is compatible with ALL android apps and has a (relatively) small installation footprint. We all know the PL is capable of running android natively, if only RIM would open this feature up to us. Some chance of that. So I've taken the bull by the ba... horns and contacted the Bluestacks team directly to ask if this would be a possibility. Ok, so I'm clutching desperately at straws here, I know that. But imagine the ability to run Google Play and install and run any android app you like, taking advantage of the high quality hardware inside the PB. Sales of the PB and PB LTE would go through the roof. RIM would make a packet. And we would be able to brag to any other tablet owner that we had a device that would blow theirs out of the water any day.
If only...
