    Hello

I was trying to connect my wife's BlackBerry PlayBook on Windows 8.1 and I was having problems (as it seems to be the case for everyone on Windows 8.x). At some point, the BlackBerry Desktop Software offered me to repair the tablet since I was having problems connecting but I did not see that this meant it was going to restore to factory settings.

So now I've lost everything on the tablet including important pictures...

Is there any way I can recover them?

I've tried with software like Recuva but since it's considered a network share it can't restore it...

Does anyone have any trick for me?

    Thank you

Have you ever backed it up.
Search your pc/mac for a older backup file.

    No

But the files must be physically there are it's possible to recover deleted files from SD cards and other types of storage. The only problem here is that BlackBerry mounts as a Network Share instead of a real USB Mass Storage like others do. If it wasn't for this, I could go and restore some files...

Try a restore software. Just Google "restore deleted data" and there's lots of programs. Unless BlackBerry has a "security wipe" when it restores on the PlayBook then the info should still be there just not in the directory.

Do not download anything on the device because it may overwrite your old data.

Thank you. Unfortunately, Blackberry only mounts as a network drive and the recovery software I've found do not support network drives.

Can you put it in "mass storage mode"?

I've had one that could scan USBs

Didn't get that to work yet. When I plug it USB Windows Explorer still says "Network Drive".

Had you ever connected and backed up on another computer. I honestly don't know if this is a helpful idea, but have you used an older version of Windows on another computer?
