I don't know if anyone else is still having this problem, but I just figured out why it wasn't working for me. It's a bit of a no-brainer once I realized it, but when downloading images, make sure the file extension is there in the file name. For the wallpapers from CB, I'd select "download" and then save, but the file name would just be a number (i.e., no ".jpg" at the end). It would download, but when I went to Pictures it wasn't there. When I try it now and add the ".jpg" they show up in Pictures no problem.
The file extension is more important than the folder it is placed in on the /media share, it seems

Because I was using Bridge to use my Playbook, my downloaded files showed up under "Bridge files" in Playbook, under Blackberry Torch/ Documents. I can only access them with the phone on since the files are actually stored on the phone's SD card.
When I create a document using "Word to Go" it is stored in the Playbook, however.
I didn't realize that there are two different places that files can be stored on my phone, and also then another place in the Playbook.

When it asks you to (re)name the video/song/picture or whatever the time is that you are downloading, you have to leave the name that's already there as is. And then it will start to download, and once it is done it willlet you know. And you can watch it

What to do if there is an 'Unable to find default app' error when trying to download titles with a BlackBerry 10 device

If you're getting the error “Unable to find default app” when trying to download an eBook or audiobook on your BlackBerry 10 or PlayBook device, please make sure you're borrowing and downloading titles using the built-in browser in OverDrive Media Console (OMC). You can access OMC's built-in browser through the app's Get Books feature. If you navigate to your library's digital collection using your device's browser instead of the Get Books feature in OMC, eBook and audiobook downloads will not work.
